HTF is this show still on TV? Its like watching Jabba the Hutt, 2 of his dumb goons and a 2022 aged version of Princess Leia.

Bolts is No.1 for score involvements as a small forward. However, his goalkicking accuracy is this year the worst of the small forwards  :P.

THE STAR HAVING A HUGE IMPACT

By Alex Zaia
SEN
23 June 2022

Garry Lyon heaped praise on emerging Richmond star Shai Bolton.

Bolton is in All-Australian contention operating as a dangerous forward who can play through the midfield, stepping up in the Dustin Martin role.

“There’s a player who’s more important than ‘Dusty’ at the moment for Richmond, that’s Shai Bolton,” Lyon declared.

“He’s the one who is having the Dusty-like influence on games.

“Bolton’s the one. Every time he touches the footy … one in two ends up in a score.

“This is a bloke who goes in the middle, this is a bloke who goes forward and kicks goals.

“It’s great that Dusty’s back … but Bolton’s the one who would be giving Chris Scott most nightmares.”

Bolton is averaging 18 disposals, 3.7 clearances and 1.7 goals per game so far in 2022.

The 23-year-old is also ranked third for score involvements and seventh for goal assists in the AFL.

Has had a crap fortnight and his accuracy is terrible by and large.

Would be a shame if it becomes a season of 'should have beens'

Bolton lights up the 'G

Shai Bolton showed he is ready to take over from Dustin Martin as the Tigers' main man with a dazzling performance. Bolton was unplayable at time as almost single-handedly brought his side back into the contest. The young gun was a constant threat anytime he went near the ball and kicked three goals as the Tigers roared back from 35 points down to take the lead. The only downside for the emerging star was his inaccuracy in front of goal again proving costly as he he missed two gettable chances.

14 disposals (10k, 4h, 6c, 8u, 64.3% eff.)
5 marks (3 contested)
2 inside 50s
1 intercept
303 metres gained
7 score involvements
1 goal assist
3 goals
2 behinds
87% time on ground

Dimma's post-game comments about Bolts:

Hardwick: "Bolton was terrific. Kicked 3 goals and missed one he should've got. Some of his marking was first class. A damaging player. It's been a tough week for him no doubt. It's unlike Shai to be like that but the positive for Shai is the growth he's shown. It's a credit to him and the game he played."

Lifted when needed and played like an absolute superstar of the competition. With contested marking like that he could play as a KPF. What he lacks in height he makes up in hops and arm length.

Also someone post the gif of him pulling on the jersey after he scored one of his goals please.

Nathan Brown on the Sunday Footy Show critiqued Bolton's goalkicking. Said Bolton is turning his back on goal and then trying to snap which is why he is missing these gettable goals. You don't have the spatial awareness when you're not looking at the goals. Browny said for those round the body set shots, Shai needs to set up on a 90 degree angle (not 180) so he can see the goals and get enough hook on his kick.

Goddard chipped in and said it's a mental issue. That Bolton takes the kick quickly because he doesn't want the pressure of lining up for a set shot. It's why he didn't use a drop punt against Carlton despite being directly in front.

Browny and Goddard are actually bang on. Castagna does this too.

Keep it simple with traditional snapping technique not the trying to fake and instinct kick.
Go Tigers!
