Sheesh,

I would have thought it was simple.

It's $1000 to sponsor a player.

20x$50.

If 20 people put in $50, some might put in multiple shares, then there is enough to do it.

If there wasn't enough then money returned and doesn't go ahead.

Who said anything about the site mods having to cover shortfalls.

In saying that, I don't give a continental and wouldn't be putting in.

Not even Batch? ;D
I'd just ask we have a vote like the 3 strikes thread which you can still view as a sticky for context. Then leave it up once it's been voted on and let people decide once and for all. If it's been debated several times, then it's obviously one of those things that has some profile so why not sticky a discussion thread  and vote?

Mate, it is obvious this Yellowblood guy is trying to get himself a gig on the mod team.

'Shortfall' is not a genuine excuse.
It may be "obvious" to fools because your statement is completely false. 100% BS.

This isnt my vote post but clearly theres an issue with the votes not totalling 60 (and alot of confusion in the last few pages).

Batch 45
Markov 13

Should we just give an extra vote to each?

I have explained why it won't happen. There have been many discussions over many years (this site has been running for 13 years) and it has been decided everytime we won't be doing it.

That explains how the decision came about but what were the major reasons WHY it should not/will not happen. Even in your most recent post where HRT questions the reasoning your only response is "the reasons why are as relevant today as they have been every other time"

I would think Doc YBB has explained it exceptionally well

All he has done is muddy the water with his opinion. Fair enough if you want to avoid the question for whatever reason but the white knight doesn't need to try and dismiss everyones questions and opinions based on the fact "if you say no, it means no". Maybe he should let the people who can actually answer the questions answer the question
White knight? LMAO.

It only requires a tiny amount of intelligence to work out the reasons why OER doesn't offer player sponsorships.

OER is a website that is run by a small number of people. They devote their personal time for free to keep the site afloat. They don't make money like others from advertising etc.  When it comes to player sponsorship, the time and money required to do this properly, chase up people for money and even maybe put in their own hard earned to make up shortfalls, make it less than desirable.

Does that make sense now?

Sheesh, talk about having to spell out the bloody obvious. :banghead

I'm not an idiot, I can make my own assumptions too. The thing you're forgetting is we are asking the MODS what their reasons for it are, not your self appointed mod opinion, which btw Damo has rebutted. Not yours, theirs. Does THAT make any sense now?

We. Are. Not. Asking. Your. Opinion. Now hopefully with it spelled out you'll understand ::) ::)

I think it would be best as such I make the scores as

If it's been debated several times, then it's obviously one of those things that has some profile so why not sticky a discussion thread  and vote?

I am not sure why you think that it is up to posters to decide if the site is to sponsor players

There will be no vote as we (the mods, the people who run and fund the site) have decided previously (after numerous discussions and feedback) not to do it.

I get that people don't like it but ultimately it is the site owners who have the final say as we are the ones who deal with all the outside stuff you good folk don't have to worry about. Think that gives us a final say on a number of things and this is one of them

So I don't think we are being unreasonable in deciding it's not something this site will do. It has always been our view is and has been every time it's been bought up that we will not go down that path. We have not changed on our mind on it. that other sites do it is not relevant to OER. We have said from day 1 we don't care what other sites do.

Simply it is not something we have the time, the resources to do. Throw in what else it involves regarding dealing with people's money and other private stuff (eg bank accounts) then it is huge job, one as I said we are not going to undertake

People have ridiculed YBB for their comments (view / opinion) but it was more succinctly put than anything I had time to post.

I will say explain this just once.

I asked 4 questions of which one was singled out and no one bothered to answer any of the others.

Re the one singled out: the cost and the possible shortfall. It costs $1500 to sponsor a player @ $50 each it requires 30 people. I asked simply question what happens if there is $50-$100 shortfall, who's going to cover it? it wasn't an excuse it was a question. These are the things that need to be considered and sorted out in this sort of thing...

the logistics involved in pulling this all together isn't as simple as people seem to think.

I will repeat again

If people from here want to band together to sponsor a player then by all means go ahead

But it will not fall under the banner of OER as the site position is simple: we have chosen that we don't and won't be sponsoring players

Big Willy, I was hoping you might answer my questions first  ;D
Out of interest, by answering the other 3 questions and providing answers/solutions - would that change your view?
Because it isn't seeming that way which is the other reason I'm not going to answer them just yet  ;)

$1000 for a coterie member, which I would assume someone involved is.

Yes there are coterie members on the forum  (I'm one) but a coterie member could not take out a sponsorship under their membership in the na,e of someone or something else

So it is  $1500

Good, so don't ask me questions if you're not going to take my views on board and/or change your position to the topic.
