I have changed my opinion on our need to hunt for an experienced key forward. I felt we desperately needed to recruit another KPF this off season but now I'd rather look to the draft.

Given our success this year with only one KPF up front, and the likes of Bolton and Stengle coming through the ranks, I cannot see us playing two talls in attack next season. Just doesn't look to be room.

The dilemma we have is that in Riewoldt we have one of the best KPFs in the game, who suits our gameplan perfectly and who we need cover for. But realistically, this cover is only for if he gets injured or his form really falls away. To get a reasonable cover for Jack talent wise we are going to have to pay over the odds, and are we going to be able to find someone who will be happy biding their time at VFL level if required?

And we managed reasonably well when Jack missed a few games with that eye injury.

So I am kind of thinking that we need to try and draft a couple of taller KPF prospects who are athletic enough to reach most contests in the forward line rather than being immediate impact players. The sort that might take a little time to develop.

I am not sure who is coming through who might fit that bill, just saying....

We may just go to the draft this year and save our pennies for the 2018 trade period with Tom Lynch already considering to walk out on the Suns in twelve months time if they have another poor season.

There is no way we can afford Lynch this year or next

Anyone keen on Adam Saad?

I rate him but is he better than what we have?

Could Short be just as good?

Why not? Maric, Hunt, Morris, Elton plus one or two of Lennon and Lloyd would free up enough space imo

id also add that Grigg, Edwards and Houli are all turning 30 next year and 31 in the year we'd look at drafting Lynch to play.

A lot of murmurs about he's leaving end of next year. Maybe Dion got in his ear?  :shh

I was really impressed by Moore in the VFL. His final series was very good. He is a good contested mark and is very quick on the ground. Hopefully he could provide a good option in the near future.

If he is leaving next year, it won't be to us.

No way we can outbid the suns next year.

Needs to happen this year, if ever.

Cannot see it happening. Would require a huge pay cut on Lynch's part. Every chance he is looking at Dusty type money.

Probably be a premiership player, this time next year, if he did though.

Probably not, but then we probably weren't going to win the flag, even 4 weeks ago.

I think there's every chance we can lure him down to us if we wants to come back to Melbourne (assuming he's a Victorian?)

Weren't we into Prestia 18 months before he was officially a Tiger?

I agree with this. The AFL will jump in and offer whatever it takes financially for him to stay on next off season when the RFA offers start coming. If its going to happen we need to shock the footy world(again) and do it now.

100%. Prestia was coming out of contract though.

Lynch will be a restricted free agent next year. Suns get the opportunity to match what ever offer we put forth. You would imagine they could easily trump us. A number of clubs could, no doubt.

Our window is this year. We have a lot going for us.

Premiership team (still feels weird), Prestia & Caddy. Huge crowds. Two first round picks.

It's why i'm considering the idea of it at all. Requires a massive buy in on his part. We shall see.

Apparently, the Suns will offer Tom Lynch $8 over 5 years to stay up there.

Trade Radio is saying Port's Jackson Trengove will move to the Bulldogs as a free agent on a 4-year deal.
@cleary_mitch: Jackson Trengove spotted at the Bulldogs today for his first round of photoshoots. Expect that to happen officially tomorrow

Cornes: We expect Jarman Impey to nominate Hawthorn as his preferred club of choice.

Fox Sports reporting that Devon Smith has nominated Essendon as his club of choice.

@barrettdamian: The Saints have tabled a five-year deal for Adam Tomlinson for him to leave [the Giants].

Lynch might be here next year.... :shh

Trengove would've been useful....

Been saying we should be into Tomlinson for two years ...was arguably GWS' best in the prelim. - genuine three line player who will only get better....  :shh
