Lambert out Miles in
Griffith out, Chol in

Unfortunately Chol may not play this week because suffered concussion. Agree with dropping Lambert and bringing in Miles

Nasty black eye won’t stop Dusty

JON RALPH,
Herald Sun

The Tigers believe Dustin Martin will be fine to take on West Coast next Saturday despite assessing him for a cheekbone injury.

He played out Thursday night’s game and showed no signs of discomfort despite a shiner under his right-eye and large swelling on his cheek.

But with Griffiths suffering the effects of his latest concussion, he is already close to being ruled out for the Eagles clash.

Ivan Maric was excellent in Thursday afternoon’s VFL practice match win over Collingwood and his cousin Ivan Soldo was equally impressive.

The 20-year-old project ruckman, yet to play an AFL game, kicked four goals in the victory as tall Mabior Chol was concussed and taken off on a stretcher.

First-choice ruckman Toby Nankervis broke even in an excellent battle with Magpie Brodie Grundy, but the Tigers will need another tall attacking target who can pinch-hit in the ruck.

In: Maybe a designated tagger to take out Mitchell's influence?

Not needed with Miles in. Caddy now helps with tagging.
Otherwise you're opening the plan for Hunt to come back as Dimwit's preferred tagger.

Reckon Conca could be a decent tagger. Might help keep him away from the ball too....

Outs- Houli, Conca and Griffiths
Ins- Markov, McIntosh and C. Ellis

Markov to take Houli's HBF. Markov is quicker, harder and just as a good kick as Houli.
McIntosh to play CHB and pinch hit in the ruck in our backline, and Astbury to play CHF and pinch hit in the ruck while Nank rests. If we are smart with how we use Nank there is no reason we need a second ruckman.
C. Ellis to take Conca's spot and rotate through HF, HB and in the midfield. Conca's disposal and lack of composure with footy in hand outweighs what good stuff he brings.

IMO Astbury will compete better with the high ball into our forwardline than Griff. He may not take mark of the year but at least he will get his hands out and at least make a contest, giving our smaller guys sonething consistent to work with.
I would also play Lennon as a second FF at times. Start him deep, give him some room and let him lead at the footy. He isn't a HFF IMO. He just isn't quick or agile enough.

We know with our midfield we will get enough supply into our forwardline to be able to win the game as long as we are smarter than we were against Collingwood with our entries.

Our strengths are are small men in George, Butler and Rioli and there pressure, let's give them opportunity to win us the game against West Coast.

Also Rance to play on Kennedy and Grimes to play on Darling. Set them both for those match ups early in the week. Stop those 2 and we go along way in beating them.

Grimes should take Le Cras, Asbury for Darling. Would work well but Dimma will put Astbury on Kennedy to allow Rance to float which will be a problem
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Have to disagree massively BT. Conca had a v good game Thursday, as he did v Carlton. Shaping up as his best ever. Houli was also okay, even though I'd rather see someone else take his spot.

Griffiths and Edwards both ruled out for this week, Edwards for at least a couple after that.

Medical update says griff a no go as well as edwards. Martin should play. Apparently Chol should be right too.

So miles or c Ellis for Edwards
Chol for griff

The Barometer: Round 3
Herald-Sun
3 April 2017

ON THE BLOCK: The most significant concern from the Tigers’ 19-point over Collingwood centres around superstar Dustin Martin. The midfielder suffered a fractured cheekbone early int he win over Collingwood but played out the match. Meanwhile, big man Ben Griffiths landed heavily after a marking contest and appeared pale and distressed. Club officials will monitor him for possible concussion.

ON THE CUSP:
Steve Morris is available but, with the Tigers chasing a perfect 3-0 start to the season, the tough utility faces an uphill battle to win selection. Anthony Miles is certain to vie for promotion after a solid VFL hitout.

LEO SCHLINK’S FORECAST:
Richmond returns on Saturday to the MCG to face unbeaten West Coast. After decent wins over Carlton and Carlton, this is a step up for the pacy Tigers but, based on form, another win is not beyond them.
