My only comment on the above is that I'm staggered about Jess Hosking. Re Steph - I wish her all the best, her knee injury last year was a bad one and it wasn't managed well. Great to see her home in the NT enjoying her footy again

If they want to do a cleanout I reckon there is an obvious one... and that person never seems to cop any scrutiny

Can you rookie in AFLW? I'm not sure it'd be worth it but imagine there's a salary cap? Really surprised regarding Jess.

I think I read somewhere the syndesmosis from Jess is being really troublesome? Maybe she thought given her shoulders and and now syndesmosis its time?

Greater Western Sydney's AFLW superstar Alyce Parker is weighing up significant rival interest, as the Giants fight to retain their four-time best and fairest winning midfielder.

AFL.com.au understands Parker has garnered serious levels of interest from Essendon, Richmond, Geelong and Carlton and is currently considering rival offers, though the Blues have already been informed she will not be heading to Ikon Park.

Parker, who has established herself as one of the League's best inside midfielders, is a dual AFLW All-Australian and claimed four Gabrielle Trainor Medals as the Giants' best and fairest in her first five seasons.

Parker finished second in Tuesday night's most recent best and fairest count despite missing the final three games of the season with an ankle injury that required surgery.

She had been averaging 25.1 disposals and 5.6 tackles this year, before suffering her injury.

Sisters left 'shattered' after Tigers' surprise Hosking call

Sarah Hosking has backed her twin sister Jess to find a new AFLW club after Richmond delisted her last week

womens.afl
6 December 2023

SARAH Hosking has lamented Richmond's surprise delisting of her twin sister Jess after the NAB AFLW season concluded.

Both Hosking sisters were inaugural AFLW players with Carlton before moving to the Tigers when they entered the competition ahead of the 2020 season.

Sarah faces the prospect of a first AFLW season without her sister in the same side and said on this week's episode of Tagged that she was firmly focused on supporting Jess as she seeks a place on another AFLW list.

"We grew up in the womb together, we're roommates, everything. I'm shattered. I'm shattered for Jess and I think she is as well," Sarah said.

"As sisters, naturally you want to play together and for Richmond as well, there's no bad blood there. It's an opportunity now for Jess. She's still got a s***load of footy ahead of her and she's really excited to see whatever that next chapter is.

"She's definitely still out there and keen to jump on another list."

Sarah Hosking's co-host on Tagged, star Collingwood defender Ruby Schleicher, said Jess's hard-earned reputation as a tough midfielder would appeal to any club needing a bit more strength around the contest.

But Sarah said her sister's appeal for a new club wasn't restricted just to her footballing ability.

"One of her biggest strengths… off field, it's connection. I look at what she could do to help connect a young team, or one of the establishment team, or whoever it is. I just know that she's got so much more to offer," Sarah said.

Leaving the nest: Crows ruck seeks move to Tigers

womens.afl
10 December 2023

Adelaide ruck Montana McKinnon has requested a trade to Richmond after 31 games for the Crows.

McKinnon, 22, played 10 games for Adelaide this season, averaging 7.7 disposals and 15.7 hitouts.

But as reported by AFL.com.au earlier this week, she has informed the Crows of her desire to be traded to the Tigers.

McKinnon was taken with pick No.14 in the 2019 AFLW Draft.

This isn't true.  Sarah came to Richmond a year before Jess.

AFLW Trade news:

Where trade period's biggest deals sit ahead of deadline day

The countdown to the end of the trade period is on, with plenty of trades yet to be completed ahead of Thursday's 2pm AEDT deadline

By Riley Beveridge

"Richmond's move for Adelaide's star ruck McKinnon is also a standstill, with the two teams unable to find middle ground between the Tigers' first pick at No.11 and their second at No.29.

It's understood Richmond spent Wednesday reaching out to rival clubs over a pick-swap that could land a selection in between picks No.11 and 29 to satisfy Adelaide, but have so far been unable to make any progress."

And...

"Richmond is also likely to part with pick No.30 to land Greater Western Sydney duo Jodie Hicks and Ally Dallaway, with the Tigers also set to secure pick No.42 as part of the transaction."

Tigers secure trade for Hicks and Dallaway

Richmond has bolstered its list with the addition of defender Jodie Hicks and midfielder Ally Dallaway via a trade with GWS Giants today.

In exchange Richmond has parted ways with picks No. 30 and 69 overall at the 2023 AFLW National Draft.

Richmond will also receive pick No. 43 overall from GWS as part of the deal.

Hicks was a first-round pick (No. 5 overall) at the 2017 AFLW Draft and boasts 40 matches of AFLW experience.

A skilful player, with high football IQ, poise, and composure with ball in hand- Hicks can both set the game up from defence or lock down on a forward.

Hicks, 26, arrives in career best form, having not missed a game in the past two seasons and finishing fourth in the Giants’ Season 7 best and fairest.

Playing as a defender Hicks has averaged 12 disposals, 3.8 tackles and 196.5 metres across 20 matches.

Away from football, Hicks is a talented cricketer and spent four years with the Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League.

Dallaway, 24, has not missed a game in the AFLW since winning her spot onto the list in the 2022 AFLW Pre-Season.

Across 30 games the reliable midfielder has impressed with her strong work ethic, two-way running, and professionalism.

The former East Coast Eagle in the AFL Sydney competition averaged 12.5 disposals, 4.8 tackles and 1.5 clearances in 2023.

Dallaway who was a nominee for the AFLPA’s best first year player in 2022 will complement the AFLW Tigers’ already strong midfield mix.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan said it was pleasing to add two established players to the list.

“Jodie is a natural footballer that has been exposed to elite standards across two sports. We see a lot of upside in her already impressive game, and are particularly excited about her ability to play multiple roles in defence or across the midfield and wing,” she added.

“Ally is a powerful midfielder, she is tough, courageous, has great speed and plays the Richmond way.

“We think Jodie and Ally will fit right in and look forward to getting them to the Swinburne Centre.”

Richmond currently holds picks 11, 29, 43 and 49 in next Monday’s 2023 AFLW Draft.
