Richmond AFLW List Update

By Richmond Media - 4 hrs ago

Richmond has made further changes to its list ahead of the 2024 season.

Richmond confirms that AFLW forward Stephanie Williams and midfielder Jess Hosking will not return to the Club in 2024.

Hosking played 23 games for Richmond in three seasons with the Club, adding to the 30 matches she played with Carlton across five years.

The 27-year-old missed most of 2023 due to an ankle syndesmosis injury.

Williams was traded to Richmond from Geelong in 2022 and featured in the opening five rounds of her debut season at the Tigers before a strained ACL ended her year prematurely.

The 21-year-old has played nine games at AFLW level.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan, wished Williams and Hosking well for their next chapters.

“I would like to thank Steph and Jess for their hard work and passion during their time at Richmond,” she said.

“Jess brought a lot of experience to our program and played her part in some strong periods for us, including featuring in both of our finals last year.

“Steph brought a lot to our football program and broader Club and even while inactive on our playing list in 2023, Steph has remained engaged and supportive of the team.

 “We wish them both well.”

My only comment on the above is that I'm staggered about Jess Hosking. Re Steph - I wish her all the best, her knee injury last year was a bad one and it wasn't managed well. Great to see her home in the NT enjoying her footy again

If they want to do a cleanout I reckon there is an obvious one... and that person never seems to cop any scrutiny

I reckon there are about half a dozen that could go before Hosking

Mind boggling and thinking there has to be more to it

I know that there are many who don't give a rats and that's fine

But for those that do

Tonight is our AFLW sides B&F

You wouldn't know it as there's nothing about it on the Club's website and they're not streaming it.

They really do treat our Women's program as an after thought  :scream  :banghead

Leading Goal Kicker - Katie Brennan
Players Player Award - Mon Conti

*** currently all awards are nameless. Hopefully over the next few years the awards will get named after significant women who helped build our women's team

I'm not on FB but I am on the social formerly known as Twitter

And they have a few updates there

But for the men they do a live stream. Why not for this? Over 3k AFLW members and nothing. Not a mention leading up to it. Just think it's poor form
