Once it gets to that stage you already know in your heart of hearts what needs to be done
Easy for someone from the outside commenting on it , but delaying the inevitable is cruel if there is a lot of bad days

All the best with it WP, as a genuine dog lover, there is nothing worse

Up until the mid last week for every one bad day we got 4 good ones

Doggie dementia is a bitch, so too is chronic bronchitis, plus a few other things which I won't go into now  :'(
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

Feeling for you WP

We have 6 dogs, well 5 now. Three are aged 17, 19 and 22. They get looked after like royalty by my wife.

Just had to put the 19 year old down. Lost a leg to cancer a couple of years ago and the cancer came back in a big way.

The 17 year old is good in the body but the mind and eyes have gone. So spends his days walking in circles

The 22 year old has a body failing him. Arthritis has hold of him. It is almost time but the tough little guy just does not want to give up. He is a Richmond supporter watches all the games with me.
