I think they’re exactly the same team as last year with rule changes which suit them

Same team minus Hawkins. I mean he's just lost his leading goalkicker and he's coming out with this crap. Once again he's making a fool of himself at the detriment of his team. He hasn't learnt from his sooking about the 'G backfiring. He can't help opening his big mouth without putting his foot in it. If he's resorting already to 'mind games' (using that term lightly) then deep down he doesn't believe they can beat us.

Cats since the Bye
6 wins and 6 losses 118%
2 and 6 away from KP 102%
4 and 0 at KP
Overall
78 for
67 against
Top 8
69 for
68 against
Tigers
10 wins 0 losses 158%
Avg For 99
Avg Against 63
Top 8
6 wins 0 losses 138%
Avg For 95
Avg Against 67

They’re going to have to find a way to get us scoring 5 goals less than we have averaged against the top 6.
In fact, our lowest score against a top 6 side is 82 - 2 and half goals higher than their average score conceded or scored.
They’ll need to do that without Tomahawk who averages 3.5 goals per game (2.5 kicked himself and 1 goal assist per game).
They’re coming from a long way back
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

How Richmond's recent form counters Scott's comments

By Andrew Slevison
SEN
18 Sep 2019

Ahead of Friday night’s preliminary final, Geelong coach Chris Scott believes his side will be facing a Richmond team of inferior quality to last year.

Scott suggests his Cats present as a much stronger outfit than they were in 2018 when they got within 18 and three points of the Tigers in their two encounters.

Damien Hardwick’s Richmond was the best side in the competition until last year’s preliminary final so Geelong’s performances against them, doubled with a 67-point demolition job in Round 12 this season, has Scott full of belief.

However, Tim Watson has moved to counter Scott’s comments after taking a close look at the Tigers, who have won 10 in a row since returning from the bye in Round 15, by comparing their form to last year.

“It’s worth actually analysing what he (Scott) said there about the fact that he believes they (Richmond) were a better team last year because statistically across the year, Richmond were better in 2018,” the Essendon great said on SEN Breakfast.

“Across the year they were better, but since Round 15 this year, it’s a different tale.

“We all know injuries had a huge impact on their season this year.

“Comparing the back end of 2018 to 2019 for Richmond, in '18, they won three of their last four home-and-away games by under 10 points so there were alarm bells going into that finals series. That led to that loss to Collingwood in the prelim final.

“Overall in 2019, Richmond are more rounded than in '18 and '17. Their ball movement from the back half is number one in the competition and that’s without Alex Rance.

“They use the corridor more too. They’re the number four side in the competition at taking the ball from the defensive part of the ground into the corridor. So they are jamming the ball down your throat.

“In some ways they are more attacking and more dangerous than they were in '17 and '18.

“I’m not sure what he’s saying stacks up if you scrutinise it really heavily and deeply.

“I think if you looked at it overall and said, ‘ok, '18 to '19’, he might have a point there. But if you are looking at when they really started to gather their best team together and their momentum started to build.

“Post-Round 15 is when Dusty Martin really started to hit his straps as well. I think they’re (Geelong) facing a much better team than they faced in 2018.”

Taking a deeper dive into Richmond’s 2019 form versus that of their premiership triumph in 2017 and their home-and-away dominance in 2018, it shows that the Tigers are in better nick this time around.

Richmond from Round 15 up until the preliminary final 👇

       Wins   Losses   For   Against   %
2019   10   0   994   631   157.5
2018   9   1   973   701   138.8
2017   8   2   948   708   133.8

Can't stand Geelong but the recent match ups say that even when we're in good form and a stronger team they still push us hard.

They were much closer than I'd prefer in both our match ups last year (probably should have won the second), and they belted us earlier this year.

Yes, I'm aware of the ins/outs compared to that match and the form line. But I still maintain they always match up well against us.

This is not a cakewalk. They will be hungry to make amends for 2017. If we rest on our laurels like we did last year we will lose.

You're right dougey, it's not going to be easy. No Prelim is. However, if we rest on our laurels and don't come out breathing fire after last year's Prelim stuff up and Scott mouthing off about how we're a worse side than last year then we deserve to lose. Eat 'em alive, Tiges!  :gotigers

Love the fact we havent responded. Hardwick is stoking the fires internally. I think we'll win.

'I love the way he goes about it': Hardwick responds to Scott comments

RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick says the Tigers are better placed and better prepared for this year's preliminary final after last year's shock loss to Collingwood.

Geelong coach Chris Scott, whose side will face Richmond on Friday night, said this week the Tigers were a better team in 2018 than this season.

But Hardwick said the Tigers, who bombed out of last year's premiership race against the Magpies after a dominant season, will hit the preliminary final in strong shape.

"I think we're certainly better prepared," he said on Thursday.

"I feel we've grown as a side, there's no doubt about that. I feel we're better placed. Once again we give ourselves another opportunity to win.

Our players are really hungry, we've got a really good we're coming up against on Friday night and it's going to be a hell of a contest.

Hardwick said the Tigers hadn't spoken about last year's missed shot at the Grand Final in the lead-up to this week's clash with the Cats, nor would they be using Scott's comments as ammunition.

"Chris is very good at giving you an insight without giving you an insight, I reckon. I love the way he goes about it, I love that football club really," he said.

"They're something we admire to be – they've been incredible performer over a long period of time. That's something our football club is starting to get an understanding of and to create that long-term success."

How is it possible that Chris Scott's an even bigger flog than he was last year? :shh

He’s like Russell Crowe - he cant act!
