Essendon did more to save Richmond than 95% of its fans. Tragic.

Quote from: Mitchell Madness
One thing I've always noticed, Richmond supporters always have had more modern jumpers than other clubs fans

Quote from: Evolved1
It was a regrettable short period of poor governance in the time of a club with a long and proud history. Richmond, of all clubs, should have been grateful to have benefited through being gifted an easy finals game against the underachieving Carlton side of that year.

Unfortunately you weren't able to capitalise on the opportunity. It's highly likely you would have lost by double that margin against the strong Essendon side of that year who would have more than likely gone on to win the premiership and thus benefited from merchandise sales in a similar manner to what Richmond is doing now.

Anyway, I'm glad to see Richmond fans living it up after decades of underachievement. Even moreso, it's nice to see an Essendon legend holding the wheel during your successful era.

Quote from: Lavender Bushranger
Doesn't this [merchandise sales] reflect on the type of person that supports Richmond?

I mean, let's be honest. Only a certain type of person wears merch.

Evolved1 has evolved too far and has forgotten history. Sheedy.

At least Sheedy played out his career at Richmond and was not forced out like Hardwick was.

And Sheedy is in our Hall of Fame and Hardwick will be at some point. Crickets at Windy Hill

Yeah 'Essendon legend' is a bit of a stretch. Considerably worse than Collingwood's claim to a preliminaryship in 2018 like it counts for something.

Hey @Adelaide_FC, I've just seen the AFL Amazon documentary trailer featuring Rory Sloane among others, and was wondering if it's possible to organise an edited version with all of the Richmond bits cut out? Still too triggering for my liking. Thanks.

Demon supporter responding to Mansell training with us:

FFS. After three premierships in the last 4 years, I’ve grown to really hate the Tigers.  I hate every other club, just some like the Pies, Eagles, Bombers and now Tigers are really hated.  😡

Mansell is a skilled, fast, wing/half back runner who showed in the SANFL that he also has the 2nd efforts and intensity to be in the AFL system. It’d be great for Mark Williams or Tim Lamb to get his number and give him a call to see if he would consider a spot with the Dees. Tigers already have too many good players. They need to opt out for a while.

Q. Has an AFL decision/policy ever cost your club a potential flag?
Quote from: 1990crow
Trent Cotchin not getting banned for bump on Dylan Shiels head in 2017 prelim

Because the head is protected in the modern AFL. Cotchin chose to enter Shiels headspace to attack the ball.
The same action and result every other time to this incident has resulted in a suspension. Because Richmond was in the grand final for the first time in decades the AFL let it slide.

So up to 2017 Tigers were playing and losing to Geelong in Geelong. And then the Tigers started winning these Geelong 'home game's when played at the MCG.

What a fortunate change in fixturing.

Almost as if Geelong are more familiar and confident playing in Geelong v Richmond. Massive benefit to the opposition giving up home ground advantage to play where the Tigers are very comfortable v playing somewhere they rarely win.

Tough away game that Geelong trip.

Some teams just get a leg up from AFL fixturing and avoid playing in Geelong. Lucky Tigers. Just like being gifted an early kill against Carlton when they were rebuilding.

Great to see a WC thread on the Mb for all the Richmond supporters to continue their obsession with us. You guys really are a weird bunch.
As far as advantages goes, having 10 games at Optus against traveling sides might help us limp into the 8, but that is pretty useless when you have to win multiple finals on the road from there to win a flag. If we don’t finish top 2 we’re cooked. And you need to overcome a hell of a lot of disadvantage and win on the road to finish top two when you’re not based in Victoria.
The most advantaged teams are the ones which get gifted home finals regardless of ladder position. The mcg tenants.

Quote from: obeanie1
Typical stupid reply from a Richmond nuff nuff..

Totally avoided the issue......And the obvious.

Only time will tell if Richmond are good enough to win in a Perth hub v Eagles.

To date Tigers have played once there in three seasons. A 47 point thumping.

Finally in 2021 Richmond have a challenging draw worthy of being the premier team. Multiple interstate trips and no super soft run at home leading into finals. If they win this season I will 'tip my hat'.

Quote from: Obeanie1
You forgot to mention the undisputed advantages of being an AFL pet.

Avoiding playing in Geelong again. The current toughest away venue in the comp instead played at your home ground. Massive advantage over other top four teams who pay Geelong in Geelong.

No trips to Tasmania. Let others do the extra travel.

Eagles fans accept they need to travel. It's a given challenge we know can't be avoided.

We don't accept pampered fixturing that gives the best team for the past 3-4 years a soft draw.

Not hard to understand but Tiger fans don't handle facts and basic logic. Easier to just ignore it totally hey Tigers!

Ahhhhh the old Geelong home ground advantage. Played one final there against freo and lost. Can’t remember the previous one to that.

Fact of the matter is Geelong don’t play all their home games at home and don’t play any of their finals at home. It isn’t a Richmond thing, it’s league wide. Didn’t hear them complain about this when they were winning flags....

Besides 2020 grand final played on neutral venue and who won???

We played 4 finals out of Victoria last year and still won the flag.

Those Eagle fans also ignore they've choked at home the past two years against Hawthorn (r23, 2019) and Collingwood (EF, 2020).

Geelong flogs calling us AFL pets while one of their former players heads an AFL committee that's been changing the rules every year since we won our first flag in order to nullify our game plan and benefit theirs...... :shh

I actually agree they should play all their home games in Geelong but yeah that’s an issue to take up with the AFL not us.

Chuckling @ the "tough away game that Geelong trip"

Would have thought, given all the whining about Richmond at MCG, that the toughest away trip would be playing us @ MCG

They will have to play the GF at the MCG if the whining biatches ever get there, so they should embrace the experience....
