Norf are in huge trouble as a club. Draft picks wont save them. They need the AFL to put in a new administration, a new football department, a new senior coach, and some new recruiters. Its off field thats wrecked their club. For us we thank them for pick 19. They can have it back for Uniake if tbey want lol.
Norf can't use youth as an excuse either. They're not a young team.
There's a Fitzroy stench about Norf.
Round 13, 1996. Fitzroy - W1 L12, 52.6%
Round 13, 2022. Nth Melb - W1 L12, 52.3%.
The AFL have a history of merging or relocating clubs if it's what the AFL wants. The AFL would love to send Norf to Tassie.
Your right their starting 22 above is about the same as it is for most clubs in age.
In fairness to them as of march 21 2022 the first game of the season they had the second youngest list.
That team above was probably the oldest team they could field atm. Development or more to the point development time never gets spoken about when it comes to these things.
Imo they have a long way to go most important for them is to make sure they have very good recruiters and very good development coaches. Clearly list management needs to be better and they need a long term plan and need to stick to it.
Their list imo lacks structure and depth in the key areas.
Like us not so long ago they are relying on ruck/fwds to become very good fwds.I call em half ruck half forward not quite eithers. Just one genuine key fwd in Larkey.
If there i would be going hard for three GENUINE key forwards at varying stages of development. A more mature recruit to partner Larkey a promising kid and maybe a promising say 22yo from the state leagues if available.
Would be looking at a Genuine ruckman to develop especially with Goldstein close to retirement.Xerri is there but will need back up
Would be sifting thru The ruck/fwds CC-J, Comben and Edwards keeping the most promising and moving on the rest.
Also think they need two KPDS they have Walker at 30yr Corr at 28 and McKay at 24 yrs. there is no one else and they need blokes in development.
Out side of this the priority would be the best mids i could get my hands on. A couple of big ball winners and polished in/out mids to compliment them.
North to Tassie will never happen Tasmanians just won't embrace them. I dont think a Tassie team is too far away.
