TBBH I'd make Broad Captain

No chance. Spent the first 15 weeks of the season on the verge of being dropped.

Does bakes really need to nominate a side. Just tell ‘em both to negotiate a trade with us and whoever gives the best offer gets him.

Doesn’t really say much for freo who are right in their window that a player would still pick the coachless start of a rebuild eagles over them.

The same ones I was watching. Broad was extremely ordrinary for much of the season.  Not sure he was ever on the verge of being dropped though. Every premiership player on the list had a gold pass this year. KMac's malfunctioned for 1 week but IT fixed it and he was back the next.

Great guy Broady and his loyalty is awesome. Did finish off the year well too so I'm content with him going around again. Captain? Not a chance.

Yep - Broad came home with a wet sail but he was spudding it up badly for at least the first half of the year.... :shh

Its funny how all the poor stuff is forgotten or forgiven after a few good games. Broad really did struggle but did come home with a wet sail as you say.

Gotta remember april next year Broad will be 32 and the thinking should be of slowly phasing him out if we can.

I still think we need to go in the back half next year with something like this

Vlastuin - Balta - Bauer
Smith/Brown - Gibcus - Oliver/A Clarke. Great in the air backhalf with pace and run and in Smith and Oliver very good kicks though you would not know it this year with Smith.

Travaglia - Taranto - Lindsay
Nankervis - Lalor - Draper.  Pace power size run.

Add Hotten and davis to the forward half to go with Lynch Lefau and Gray with possibly Campbell, Mrj or one of the smalls we have.

Broad -  Hopper - Prestia whatever cover we need tall , run, ball winning. operating from the bench.

Im hoping like hell we get the early picks that everyone is talking about.

Disagree. Brown reminds me a lot of Nick Blakey. Hes had just three seasons and his injury issues but started to get involved a lot more this year. He had 18 games this year and he played a lot of those with injury.
I think we lack patience sometimes. Blakey really came into his own in year four.

He may go forward and play okay but personally i would be persevering with him across h/b.
I want us to draft natural forwards and stop trying to turn players into something they are not.

He would be my choice to take over for Broad. Tall at what ever height he is not 193 but around 190, Can rebound and run is noted for ball use but a lot of time you would not know it. Is good in the air and i think he is a natural defender.
I think his biggest issue is size and strength still. That will come he has improved in this area but he needs to continue to improve.
Also improve his motor and have him work on his pace. He should make a very good running H/B.

Bauer well if we have a genuine tall utility in the club he is it.
He can take a grab he moves over the ground okay but to me seems to lack a yard of pace again something that cannot be improved.
At  192cm is a genuine tall.
To me He plays more like a kpp and needs to improve a lot with his ground work and find a way to get an easy kick and just get more involved, id like to see him also work on his pace off the mark. Biggest gripe  is he does not get a lot of ball this has to improve.
So many of our players need to be more involved.
So far we have played him alot  in defense as well as forward in the vfl and he has done well. Seniors we have tried him as a forward i think with the right development he would make a good Grimes replacement.

To be honest im not sure where we play him but i would not be locking him out of a defensive role.

Have to confess I stopped reading when I saw the name Nick Blakey

Yesterday, highlighted to me why Blakey is so over rated. Defensively he is very poor. And he like most of his team mates yesterday went MIA when the going got tough and he needed to stand up. He didn't

Brown is 193cm, can mark and kick.

Forward line for me.

Bauer too although kicking a little more suspect.

If he is 193cm then pigs fly. Draft natural forwards is the way to go.

We disagree and thats what its about discussion. Personally i would be developing both back.

Put Brown on a wing, lovely hit up kick inside 50.
Bauer as 2nd or 3rd forward
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

He's literally listed at 193 everywhere bar his draft profile before he grew the last 2-3 inches haha

Keep Brown back for mine. I think he was only thrown forward due to his shoulder injury impacting his ability to defend.
