Wednesday, 3 October 2018 2:00PMRichmond midfielder Reece Conca is set to become Fremantle’s first acquisition in the free agency period starting Friday.
The out-of-contract Conca is an unrestricted free agent, meaning he can automatically move to the club of his choice.
The Perth Demons product has made 104 appearances for the Tigers since getting drafted with pick six in the 2010 national draft.
Conca had his arguably most consistent season at AFL level this year, playing 18 of a possible 24 games including both of Richmond’s finals.
His only injury setback was a gruesome dislocated ankle suffered against Sydney in round 15.
He previously contemplated a return to his home state in 2016 before signing a two-year deal to stay at Punt Road.
Conca’s manager Colin Young denied a deal had been finalised, but confirmed the 26-year-old was either heading to the Dockers or staying put at Richmond next season.
“If he goes home, it will be to Fremantle,” Young said.
