We did this with Corey Ellis too. We play guys out of position when they come into the seniors. Shai needs to play mid/wing but gets placed in a forward pocket every time he is put into the seniors. Corey was played in the guts at VFL level only to be put off a HBF once he got into the seniors. We need to develop guys strengths while at the same time nurturing their weaknesses. The reason why they were drafted is that the recruiters noted their strengths and what those strengths could do to help our senior team.

Bit hard for anyone to get a crack on the wing when Kane Lambert & Shaun Grigg have never and will never be moved/dropped. BEllis was moved from the wing to HB in the last 2 years, CEllis gets played HB in the ones, Bolton gets thrown into the pocket in the ones, Hampson played as a ruckman when he was actually an outstanding winger etc. Their best bet is getting a bit of wing/hb action off the pine

We'll see how the Grigga & a few certain others are fairing next year and if the coaches still refuse to give others a go...:shh

It’s just a shame all of these boys couldn’t bring home the vfl premiership before our reserves get a sort of reset.

Hopefully the additions of Houli, Grigg & Castagna will help our VFL side improve next year.... :shh

Agree with Shai on the wing - hopefully he builds his tank and can get some more game time up the ground. I did see him play on the wing at times in the vfl and he looked good. Needs to work on 2 way running though

As for CEllis - the club was worried about Miles lack of speed to spread from the contest, cEllis is even slower hence why he wasnt played there. They tried him elsewhere bc he had better footskills and vision than Miles so hoped he could fit in elsewhere on the periphery. in the end not good enough and wont play much football at GC either

Club were not only concerned with CEllis's speed but his ability to win contested possession. Hence an enormous amount of work was put into him at the VFL level regarding this.

That’s a fair bit of turnover, surely a few of those players are retained.

The only one I'd keep is Stengle (and I'd probably add Menadue to that list in his place) - the rest are all expendable and easily replaced or upgraded on.......... :shh

Not saying they arnt but 10 or even 11 if you throw in Menadue seems like too much. With lynch coming in we’d still need to draft/trade in 10 players to replace them.

Griffiths
Hampson
Conca
Cellis
Stengle
Miles
Lloyd
Menadue?
Townsend ?
Bellis?

When you line them up like that it’s a fair list, but most aren’t best 22.

Townsend and Stengle are the one ones that we probably need as back up. Bellis isn’t as bad as people make out.

The rest tata
