agree.
Wouldn’t drop Houli, he’s arguably playing the best footy of his career, for anyone to even suggest it would be ridiculous as he is our primary attacking defender.

Ellis absolutely needs to be dropped and hopefully Stack or Pickett comes in for him.

We need to get this kid back into the side this year if he can get himself right.

He deserves it as he has been sensational and hopefully will be part of our history.

He brings something not many others can....

We all know who’s spot he should take.... someone who has already signed with someone else apparently  :shh :shh

I think we need to be very careful with Stacky, his injury is enough to carry right now.  The thing that could crush him is the weight of expectation & the pressure coming from all around him.  The kid is a first year player, even though he has shown tremendous ability & talent he is still just a kid.  To expect him to overcome a serious injury in a few short weeks so he can be named in the Grand Final team & take the field with all guns blazing is just a massive ask!  He hasn't even played a final yet but some expect him to play & to dominate!  He can't even change direction while running yet, but some expect him to play & to star in the Grand Final?
I think it is enough for Stacky to keep up the appearance that he is going to be named, to keep the opposition guessing about our team selections, to actually throw an injured first year player off the deep end into a Grand Final would be just ridiculous!
We played a very proppy Dusty last year & look how that worked out, are we prepared to make the same mistake again?
Yes is a word for the supporters for right now, but no is the right word for the future of the player ...

Stack would need to play in the VFL Granny to be any chance of a senior recall. However, he's still only running laps based on the vision on the news last night.

JP as much as we are keen for him to play again this year I believe you will find that he has more desire to get back for the finals than us.

Young players would crawl over broken glass to be involved in finals so this is where the medical staff earn their pay making the right calls.

Richmond has no such [injury] concerns, with Sydney Stack (ankle) unlikely to be considered after last playing in round 21 and suffering his injury playing in the VFL.

Ch9 said Stack trained today. If he pulls up well and gets through Thursday training too then he'll be penciled in to play in the VFL Grand Final on Sunday.

We're giving him every chance to return to the AFL side for the AFL Grand Final (if we make it).

Aarts' suspension opens up a spot for Stack. So it's an easy swap if he Syd does play this week.

Keeps the pressure on senior spots too in the Prelim.

Flicker of hope not yet extinguished for Stack

Daniel Cherny
Peter Ryan
19 Sep 2019

Sydney Stack’s manager says the door hasn’t been shut on the Richmond revelation making a stunning grand final return but anticipates a definitive decision on the Tiger’s availability to be made on Thursday.

West Australian teenager Stack - who finished third in the AFL Rising Star Award despite being overlooked by all 18 clubs in last year’s national and rookie drafts - hasn’t played since sustaining a syndesmosis injury in a VFL game last month.

Richmond have listed Stack as unavailable for either this Friday night’s AFL preliminary final against Geelong at the MCG, or Sunday’s VFL grand final against Williamstown at Ikon Park.

That leaves only the prospect of an AFL grand final for Stack, and he would need the Tigers to beat the Cats to even make that a possibility.

It would be an enormous show of faith from Richmond to recall Stack for the biggest game of the year given his length of absence from the side, and the fact he wasn’t actually in the AFL team when he got injured.

But his WA-based agent, Paul Peos of Inside 50 Player Management, said on Wednesday that all hope had not yet been lost about Stack playing again in 2019.

“Much depends on his progress through training thresholds this week. I think we will be in a better position sometime tomorrow to know for sure,” Peos told The Age.
