Really disagree with them that they assert he is a key fwd.
Just gotta develop him as primarily a ruckman who can roll forward as needed and see how it pans out.
The dogs  just threw English in the deepend and went with him as their # 1 ruckman a lot of the time and are now reaping the rewards.

The big fear is he is another Vickery or Elton or CCJ we know the types we have had over the years. Not quite a good ruckman and not quite a good forward.
Here's hoping time shows him to be very good in one of the areas.

Personally i am hoping one of Bradtke or Bauer can play well enough to break into the senior team

I know he’s a pup but gee he get’s pushed off the ball easily. Reckon that 5-7 minute period in the last when he rucked cost us dearly
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

The club have him listed at 206/103 so he is a good size but i agree he lacks genuine core  strength still. Thats something that is not a concern as it should be rectified just  with work over the next few years.

Samson Ryan has won a hitout from 52.1% of ruck contests - ranked 4th behind Grundy, Gawn, and Darcy.

Tigers’ burning question: Can Samson Ryan handle the full ruck load?

The Tigers lost arguably their two most important players in Tom Lynch and Toby Nankervis during last week’s loss to the Western Bulldogs, according to Hawthorn legend Jason Dunstall. While veteran Jack Riewoldt will return to provide a marking target up forward in the attacking 50, the Tigers will have to dig to find a Nankervis replacement, given back-up ruck Ivan Soldo is also on the sidelines battling his own foot issue. Young ruck Samson Ryan stepped in last week and looks likely to shoulder the full load this week against Peter Ladhams. Ryan won 10 hit-outs from his 19 ruck contests and fought admirably — but he’s still very green.

There is no way this guy is the way forward. Not a personal attack on the young man, but he is simply just not a competitor. You can see he just has no competitiveness. So soft

Not a smart footy player. Don’t think he has a footy brain.

Kinda reminds me of Sideshow Bob Vickery.

I disagree.

He’s raw but I think he’ll be good.

He's poor after the contest but for a kid so raw he's OK *in* a contest.

Agree on both counts

I know it's wet but f me this kid has to clunk some more marks.

He's useless once the ball hits the ground so if he doesn't mark it we are immediately a man down.

Local league players take marks he drops.

Not good enough to play AFL now. I have no patience for players that cannot take basic marks.

Must be dropped.
