Why did the Port Adelaide mega trade get blocked?

Did Fremantle just give away their 1st and 2nd future round picks as well as their 1st this year?

They got an additional round 2 pick from north for the logue and tucker deal so they were able to trade their own one out. Port only have their own so can’t trade both their future first and second.

Ahhh thanks Tiger Khosh

"I think there is still some possibility of the reigniting of the exchange between GWS and North Melbourne which could see North moving Pick 1 to GWS.

I'm hearing it's still being talked about in the last half hour."

Luke Jackson has been traded to Fremantle in a deal involving GWS.

Melbourne gets pick 13, Fremantle's future first round pick and future second round pick (tied to the Dockers) in exchange for Jackson, picks 44 and 67. GWS gets Toby Bedford.

Freo got reamed there imo. Jackson very overrated. All hype about potential

Still was a pick 3 only 3 seasons ago and won a premiership and the rising star in that time. 2 picks likely in the mid teens and another likely in the late 20s seems close enough to the mark.

Mega deal back on and in front of AFL for approval. North Melbourne, GWS Giants, Port Adelaide and West Coast involved.

Assuming it gets green light, Horne-Francis and Rioli will get to Port, GWS pick one, WC 8 and 12, North 2, 3 and F1, then bunch of other convoluted pick swaps

Might as well shut down Arden St if Norf throw away the chance to get Cadman  :lol.

Anyway, hopefully a positive to come out of this for us is if GWS end up with a pick they can hand back to us for the Hopper deal.

Mega deal back on involving the four key clubs. Greater Western Sydney a big part of the revised deal with their future second-round pick (tied to Collingwood) to enter the mix and satisfy AFL rules. Still needing to be approved but that may be missing piece.

I reckon we were eyeing off that pick if Soldo went with the Hopper deal

Would see the Giants likely get back some picks in the third round, Port Adelaide end up with that future second-rounder and a future third from North (tied to Freo) and West Coast have Port's future second and third picks. Still to be approved but the deal has been revived.

The megadeal seems certain to get done in its current form, as @ByMarcMcGowan reports. There is no impediment to the AFL kyboshing it. Clubs are all happy. Port have the requisite future picks in their keeping. It's game on
