Why did they feel the need to add the line about “previously reported he uses medical marijuana for chronic back pain”? Like what relationship does that have with the rest of the story?

Is this a stuffing joke?

Some weak prick appears to have punched Mansell in the back of the head and yet the whinge/story is about Hardwick telling them just how peeweak they are instead of them being a coward?

Extraordinary tall poppy syndrome and those Williamstown nobody's should be ashamed of their pissweakness.

The above 2 posters have completely summed up my sentiments on this article.
This is why people hate the media.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

And people wonder why people like me are so critical ofcthe pathetic Murdoch Media?

This is just another example of the quality of journalism they dish up day after day.

They are a disgrace and this is just another example of their gutter journalism

About as much relationship to the rest of the story as mentioning the incident took place in front of a FEMALE umpire - which is absolutely none.

Good pickup. Didn't get her skin colour or sexual orientation though. Important details.

To be honest I read the extract and that didn't even register with me. Shows how little I care about gender. Crap journalism!

Yup I missed it too. It’s like they had a word limit to reach and the story in it of itself could not reach it so they just had to fill it with non relevant info.

A Williamstown spokesman said the club was aware of a dispute, but the exact allegations were not yet proven. Club chief executive Ashley Baker was aware of the incident, but did not indicate whether any further action would be taken.

The spokesman said he was unsure whether there would be communication between the two teams in the coming days regarding Hardwick’s language.

“The issue was dealt with on Saturday. All of the staff that [were] involved dealt with it themselves, and then that was the end of it,” he said.

An AFL spokesperson said the league was aware of the incident and would monitor the situation.

From what I've read and heard it seems a bit of a beat up.

However I will say, with the pressure on the clubs unprofessionalism and lack of discipline, this sort of story shouldn't even get close to the point of being an issue.

AFL investigating alleged incident involving Richmond AFL coach Damien Hardwick

"We are seeking some further information from Richmond in relation to an exchange between their senior coach and a Williamstown player during Saturday's VFL match," an AFL spokesperson said in a statement on Monday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, Richmond believed the matter would be taken no further.

"The club acknowledges there was an exchange of words following an incident in the first quarter which led to a Williamstown player being reported for rough conduct," the Tigers said in a club statement.

"As far as the club is concerned, that is the end of the matter."
