I don’t know very much about the long term injury list but wouldn’t putting a player on there without any list spots available mean they can’t appear for the season?

I think it's around 6-8 weeks.

Gibcus allegedly missing first month. If he's not progressing well or the club doesn't want to rush him given our current tall defender stocks they could put him on the LTI and aim for a return after the bye which would open a spot.

Makes sense to me. Severe hammy, he's what 19 years old, and we have all of Tarrant, Balta, Grimes, Broad, Biggie, heck even Miller if needed could go back for a stop gap.

Ice the kid, get him right slowly.

We don’t have a list spot if we take a SSP to be able to take a player in the MSD unless there’s a retirement or long term injury. So that last sentence atleast is false.

How many games does Cotchin need to get to 300 games?
Yeah we're already going to vote for him mate, you don't need to keep selling it.....

Cotch retiring mid year would open up a spot. But 13 games will take him past the mid season draft.

I knew what you meant but I'm sure we can all agree the cliff would have to come hard and fast like it did for Shedda if that were to happen.

Yup it wasn’t a token contract extension just to get him to game 300 - I wouldn’t have expected cotch to even accept it if that were the case. He was legitimately our second best mid last season behind Prestia so he’s not just gonna be gifted games up to 300 and then retire to free up a spot even if he could do so before the mid season draft.

I see. I'd be devastated if Cotch retired during the season under any circumstance. Still very much best 22 and deserves to go out holding up the cup like the champion he is

Bradtke could link up with the Tigers' VFL squad should he miss out on the AFL list spot, while Narkle has been linked with a return to his home state of Western Australia should a lifeline not fall his way.

The SSP signing deadline is set for next Wednesday, February 15.

Richmond has added 21-year-old Kaelan Bradtke to its list as a rookie ahead of the 2023 AFL season.

Bradtke, a 195cm athletic forward from Corowa-Rutherglen, has impressed since joining Richmond training in December as part of the AFL’s Supplemental Selection Period.

The elevation completes a meteoric rise for Bradtke, who booted 39 goals from 17 games in the strong Ovens and Murray Football League last year.

Bradtke’s eye-catching performances at local level throughout 2022 also saw him added to the Sydney Swans VFL list, looking comfortable in two VFL matches and earning an invite to state combine testing before the National Draft.

Having been overlooked at the AFL National and Rookie Drafts, Richmond recruiters jumped at the chance to see more of the untried community football talent, training him alongside veteran key forwards Tom Lynch and Jack Riewoldt throughout the preseason.

Richmond National Recruiting Manager Matt Clarke said the Club saw a lot of up-side in Bradtke because of his ability to play multiple positions and impact in the air and at ground level through his terrific athletic profile.

“He is pretty raw, which is exciting- but already he has shown a strong desire to learn and improve, which gives us confidence he can flourish within our program,” Clarke added.

“Kaelan has played well in senior football- kicking goals against men as a main forward target in the Ovens and Murray.

“We think he has the tools to develop into a player that will be hard to play on at the elite level, so we are delighted to be giving him this opportunity at Richmond.”

Interesting but purely from a list perspective the right call.

Bradtke's determination to secure an unlikely shot at the highest level has been evident in his application to training and his desire to train across the end of year break. He was spotted at the club on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

The New South Wales product is raw and considered to have decent upside, with the signing set to provide depth behind the likes of reigning Jack Dyer Medallist Tom Lynch and triple Coleman Medallist Jack Riewoldt.
