It’s not even worthy of printing that dribble. Of course we want pick 7 - why wouldn’t we? But how are we going to achieve that, what the hell do we have in collateral to even get pick 30 let alone pick 7.
Given the Suns have academy kids to pick up, collecting more draft points is worth more to them than a single late top 10 pick. So, the Suns will be looking to turn their first round pick into more draft points than what their first pick is worth.
For example:Gold Coast's current Pick 7 is worth 1644 points.
We're currently 15th. So, our 2nd rounder (#22) is worth 845 points.
We could swap our future 2nd for an early-mid 2nd rounder in this year's draft as well as trade someone out for another 3rd rounder.
Our current 2nd: 845 (pick 22)
Swapped 2nd: 703 (pick 27)
Our current 3rd: 412 (pick 41)
Our current 4th: 158 (pick 59)
--------------------------------------
Total 2118 points.
Suns gain an extra 474 draft points from the deal in picks 22, 27, 41, 59 to use to pick up their academy kids.
We might ask for the Suns' future 3rd in return to roughly even up the deal (in terms of points) across two drafts.
We end up with pick 7 and the traded 3rd round pick this year and will have our 1st, two 3rds, 4th rounders for the 2024 draft.
