Aaron Naughton has signed on for 8 more years in the red, white + blue!

https://twitter.com/westernbulldogs/status/1709496696496136542

I know this was announced late yesterday but 8 years @ reportedly $1.3m p.a. ..... woah! And the media bagged us for our 7 year deals  ::).

Surely that's a joke at 1.3 you must be effing kidding me lol

Port Adelaide wingman Xavier Duursma is reportedly gathering attention from Victorian clubs.

Duursma is contracted for next year but according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey could be open to a move back to his home state.

Duursma’s younger brother Zane is expected to be a top five pick in this year’s AFL Draft.

The family hails from Victoria’s Gippsland region.

Xavier Dursma for Ivan Soldo pls #gotiges #AFLTrade

He's my boss's nephew.

Younger brother reportedly streets better, like Travis cloke vs his hack brothers.

But we won't get a look given our poor draft hand.

And I wouldn't want X Duursma even if he was free. Just an egotistical show pony.

We had 4 picks in the top 30 last year and didn’t seem to make any stunning pick ups, so don’t really see what difference it makes what picks we have as our selectors continually seem to make dumb decisions or am I wrong? But I live in hope…..

The problem is not that high picks don’t help you get better, it’s that we keep burning them.

That said, the jury is out in last years crop.

That was 2021 so those blokes have all been on the list for two full years now. We really should be seeing them come good in 2024 if they're going to at all.

So far the jury is still out for me.

Update on James Harmes? Likely destination?

Richmond is what I’m hearing chatter of due to Yze but I’m not certain at this stage. Will post about it if I get more information to confirm this. #AFLTrade #AFLTradeRadio

The Western Bulldogs have emerged as a suitor for Melbourne premiership player James Harmes.

Harmes had also been linked to Richmond, where his former Dees midfield coach Adem Yze is now senior coach, although the Tigers appear more unlikely as a destination.

Let's see what swans cough up for Adams. 30 years old and really not that great.

Then let's watch as we get reamed with someone like soldo who is sought after by 1 maybe 2 clubs, and is a premiership ruckman. Assuming he leaves that is.

Adams moving on is a sign of Collingwood reading between the lines. Obviously didn’t offer him a long enough deal to make him want to stay and that’s what we should’ve been doing with quite a few of our players who won’t be a part of our future

This actually makes no sense. If any player is wanted by 2 clubs vs 1 club, the rules of demand vs supply would dictate that the former goes for a higher price.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Come on. Of course 2 clubs chasing is better than one, but it doesnt mean we wont get reamed on a trade either way. It is you know about the clubs who are involved, and in both cases there is a contract for 1 more year.

Doesn't generally work out that way you want, if you have idiots in charge that have dropped the ball in recent times.  :shh
