You can say what you want how does a bad hamstring keep player out for the year even if it was off the bone at his young age to much bs all year we herd from the injury front time to be accountable.

Off the bone, with serious infection after surgery not caused by anything done by S&C but just bad luck. Muscle wastes due to infection. No surprise

Club takes a super conservative approach despite the kid wanting to play and folks still complain

I can only imagine the reaction if they had played him when he wasn't right and he did long term damage

Seems people want a bob each way

Mate Treloar ripped 2 hammies off the bone and returned in the same season something dearly wrong for all the relapses to happen.

Trelolol is still missing games with hammies because of it.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

And has been popping his hammy every season since.

Also he didn't have any infection the infection this is significant. Any chance you can acknowledge that? You that maybe just maybe it has had a bearing on the seriousness of his injury

BTW a Richmond legend had to retire because after ripping his hammy off the bone it never healed enough for him to get back no matter how hard he tried

I can acknowledge it mate , but seems we have had way to much bad luck on the injury front to much sugar coating. About time you acknowledge that standards have dropped 💯 in our football department since our flag years bigtime don't give us this covid rubbish because most clubs running full capacity now. Very simple we took a short cut with this appointment hiring within the bloke who worked under Burge who was basically sacked .

It seems for some reason it can’t be acknowledge by some that our fitness department have been a joke since this bloke has taken over. How much proof do you need to prove that we have been terrible in this area?

About time you acknowledge that standards have dropped 💯 in our football department since our flag years bigtime don't give us this covid rubbish because most clubs running full capacity now. Very simple we took a short cut with this appointment hiring within the bloke who worked under Burge who was basically sacked .

First up Burge was not sacked. He took a job at another club because they had freed up cash in their footy dept softcap. Something I might add we will have in 2024 now Dimma has gone. Club has even said that.

But onto our S&C dept and by extension our medicos

This is my take and I hope it is clear enough for people

The constant soft tissue injuries are and have been unacceptable. The injuries I'm talking about here are stock standard hammies (eg Short, MRJ, Graham,  et al) and the calf's (Hopper, Short). The managing of certain injuries in particular Soldo's foot has been abysmal

Injuries that required surgery being Lynch and Gibcus I will not whack Meehan for because their rehab programs have all the way through had the input of their respective surgeons and that is what the Club has followed. Last time I checked Meehan isn't a surgeon

No one seems to have an issue with the Club taking the cautious approach with Smith, Brown and Campbell. Why is that exactly?

FWIW worth we were having injury woes last year while Burge was still here. Interestingly the Hawks aren't having those issue this year, why? Look at the list demographics and IMHO it is the biggest clue. Also what's interesting this season is that soft tissue injuries are up across the entire competition, it appears not to be just a Richmomd thing again you have to ask why? Personally I think it has a lot to do with the shorter pre-season. This observation isn't a pro Meehan thing just a general observation of the competition.

Finally, do I think they got the appointment of Meehan right? Based on our soft tissue injuries I'd say no. But due to our Club becoming less and less transparent over the last few seasons we have no idea if they approached anyone else, interviewed anyone else. Would be great to know how they went about it rather than just the fluff piece we got when he was appointed

Hope that is clear enough  ::)

Injury Report: Round 22, 2023

RFC website
7 August 2023

The latest injury update from Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan ahead of Sunday's Round 22 clash with St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

Judson Clarke, shoulder

"Unfortunately, Judson had quite a nasty injury in the VFL game at Williamstown on Saturday. Judson has a cracked scapula and that will unfortunately end his season. He does not need surgery, but the healing process will be pretty slow and see him not involved in any contact work for a few months. It has been a great season for Judson so it’s a shame that it has ended prematurely but one thing we know with him is that he will keep himself in great condition and be raring to return to full training for the 2024 season."

Dustin Martin, soreness

"Dustin is such a dynamic and explosive player, but he unfortunately could not get himself going last week, so he was unavailable for selection. The accumulative load of the season and the five-day turnaround, at this late part of the year, was just a bit too much for him in the end. He is in better condition now and will train this week ahead of playing on Sunday."

Trent Cotchin, soreness

"Like Dustin, the five-day break for Trent with a few niggles, was just a bit too much to overcome. He has freshened up and will be available to play on Sunday."

Dylan Grimes, neck

"Dylan woke up on Friday morning with a stiff neck that was causing him quite a lot of discomfort. We got him scanned and it was apparent he had pinched a nerve in there and that it would be best that he was a late withdrawal from the match. Dylan has seen great improvement over the weekend and is in a position now that he can train this week with an eye to returning to the lineup on Sunday."

Daniel Rioli, ankle

"Daniel hurt his ankle late in the first quarter of Friday night’s game with the Dogs which needed to be treated and re-strapped during the match. He was able to get through the game but as expected pulled up a bit sore. He will have a lighter start to the week, but we are hopeful he will join in main training and be available to play on Sunday. The nine-day break will certainly help Daniel’s chances of getting up and we have a level of confidence that he will be able to do so."

Jacob Hopper, concussion

"As most of our fans would have saw, Jacob in the second quarter of Friday night’s game against the Bulldogs had an unfortunate head clash when laying a tackle on Adam Treloar. Our doctor reviewed the footage, and we got Jacob off the ground as quick as we could. From there he underwent some concussion testing downstairs, and from that the decision was made to substitute him out of the game. Jacob now enters the concussion protocols and will be unavailable for selection on Sunday. He is feeling OK, and we will continue to monitor his progress throughout the week."

Ben Miller, concussion

"Playing in the VFL in Williamstown, Ben unfortunately suffered a head knock in the early stages of the game. The doctors assessed him and took him out of the match, so he now enters the concussion protocols as well and will be monitored closely at the club. He won’t play this week, but we hope he is feeling better and able to be available for selection in a fortnight."

I would like to know if there is an in depth dissertation available re Josh Gibcus.

We are all interested and basically treated like mushrooms.

How is he Mentally and physically?  what is the prognosis?
