A good result for the Socceroos overnight. 1-1 will do against South Korea even if both goals were from defensive errors. Now all we need is a draw in the final group game against Bahrain to go through to the quarters.

                   W D L GD Pts
 Australia       1 1 0  +4  4
 South Korea  1 1 0  +1  4
 Bahrain         1 0 1  +2  3
 India           0 0 2  −7  0

Now MT ... try and be sensible at least. Since when is a draw a good result? The problem Australia has is that the A League is producing poo. From what I can see Australian soccer is still living off the "Old Soccer" developed players. Complete and utter joke is New Football. ;D
As long as we pick up points and qualify from the group who cares how we do it. In football of any kind only results matter. You want to be peaking in the knockout stage of the tournament when winning individual matches count.

Don't worry Ramps, you old NSL fans can reminisce about winning the 2000 Oceania Nations Cup in front of 300 people or beating that Soccer powerhouse Tahiti in 1980 and 1996 while failing to qualify for any World Cup over 27 years  ;)  ;D.

You've argued long and hard against that statement in the tanking debates  ;D :outtahere
I mean results as in doing what is required to win tournaments or in footy premierships. You don't need to win every game to win trophies; only the ones that matter in the long run. That's why a draw against Korea (best opposition in our group) was a good result as it put the Socceroos in a position to only need a draw to go through to the quarter finals. Sure a win would've been nice but I'd rather win in the knockout stage and win the Cup as that is what counts and what people will remember; not some group stage win. Same goes in footy - winning games that hinder your rebuild and lose you top draft picks won't be remembered; whereas gaining a top class young footballer that adds to a list that helps you go on to win the flag will be  :thumbsup.

This is a serious question but does anyone really care about this tournament?

I admit to not being a fan of the "world game" but honestly is anyone really interested

It is the Comm Games equivalent of Soccer with all the best Western European and South American countries missing but it is Australia's best chance of winning an international Soccer trophy that involves more than beating up on poor Pacific Island nations as we did when we use to be in Oceania. In Asia at least they care about it - 700 million viewers apparently watch it on TV - http://www.rapidtvnews.com/index.php/201101059624/asian-cup-tv-coverage-expands-around-the-globe.html

There's also a 'revenge' factor amonst Aussie Soccer of winning the tournament hosted by Qatar who won or you could say bought the World Cup hosting rights ahead of us.
