Would love to blood Geria at RB for Socceroos. I know it's a massive step up from A League and Ollyroos but that's his natural position. He also has pace and plays it like the wingbacks in the Euro comps. Smith on one side, Geria on the other and can both overlap with the wingers.

Cahill is our ace but would love to know where our goals come from beyond him lol. I'd have brought on Leckie over Kruse as he has been killing it for Ingolstadt and reckon Cahill will come on for Juric.

Love Matthew Leckie but hasn't given us that injection I was hoping for.

Maybe a bit late for him at 83 mins?

Perhaps should have won it after the Pen we looked good through the guts.

Yep came on too late. If Ange was serious about re-jigging he should have brought on both Kruse and Leckie at the start of the second half. We had them on the ropes by the end and would have broken through. In the end I'll take the point, should be a win next against Thailand and we should be able to cruise through the rest of qualification.

Juric is a waste.  We have no strikers.  Just play Timmy from the start.  Kruse also.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

In the end I think we were a touch lucky to get the point, don't think that was a penalty either but Juric did the right thing and went down like he'd been shot.

I've never had much time for Juric but i thought he showed some signs last night, looked a lot sharper than I've ever seen him, with a bit more space some of the turns wouldve torched Japan. Wherever he is playing now agrees with him, he's improving. Giannou looked like a bit of a donkey last night, i missed the starting lineup and noticed him for the first time around the 25th minute mark.

We have Thailand and Iraq away next 2 games, must get 6 points - Iraq away will be very tricky

Yep pathetic defending  and looking clueless as the japs park the bus and look to pick us off on the break. Ange needs to tell sainsbury he's not beckenbauer and start playing simple balls - muppet

I admit to not being a soccer fan or having a great understanding of the game

But going by the news reports this morning....

The Socceroos have done their very best impression of the Aust Cricket team without actually losing

Mark Bosnich described it has pathetic
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

It was putrid, glad I went to bed instead of watching the whole thing. Ange has always said how much he values game time over just picking players by their team or league but the persistence with Kruse is a contradiction. Spent a while injured but has struggled to play any minutes for Leverkusen since when we've got guys like Amini who might look funny but are actually playing well and getting quality game time with their club. With so long until the next international block last night was a great opportunity gone to put the best side on the park and really belt up opposition and getting a valuable 3 points and a handy goal differential. Our current roster and game plan won't hold up in the world cup and we would be quite the embarrassment.
