Welcome to AFL footy!  :thumbsup

Off the top of my head, I reckon he was involved in at least three of our six last quarter goals after he was subbed on. Picked up the tempo straight away, showed poise and composure with his decision making, and was clean by hand and foot. You can't ask for more from a debutant. Well done, Matty  :clapping.

He was brilliant. Has to play full games now. Jnr RIOLI has work to do now if he wants to play fwd, but I'm inclined to try him as an attacking tagger on ball.

Looks to be a very good field kick which is a nice change from our pressure fwds over the past few years. Think he’ll be in the 22 next week.

Sparky sub impresses on debut

Mid-season recruit Matt Coulthard came into the game halfway in the third quarter, but really kicked into gear at the start of the fourth term. The lightly built South Australian played key roles in Richmond's first two goals after the final break, finding plenty of space and showing a nice pair of heels and some key composure to find teammates in front of the big sticks.

7 disposals (4k, 3h, 2c, 6u, 100% eff.)
1 mark
2 tackles (1 F50 tackle)
1 clearance
2 inside 50s
169 metres gained
3 score involvements
1 goal assist
30% time on ground

Substitute Matt Coulthard provided some much-needed spark in his first game, coming on in the third quarter and bringing some zing to the half-forward line, setting up two fourth-quarter goals.

"I'm just rapt for him. They took (forward Denver) Grainger-Barras off, so we took (defender Tylar) Young out of the game as a tactical substitution," MacQualter said.

"Matty showed us what we've seen at VFL in the past five weeks. His run and work-rate, he really connected our forwards a few times. He really gave our players some energy coming on, as well."

Excellent debut, especially considering he was the sub.

Showed more poise in his TOG than some his seasoned team mates

Was great i thought. If he doesnt play we may not have won that last quarter

Looks like we have a player!

Strong mark, lethal kicking. What's not to like.
