Views on this kid for the draft experts

Thomas Sims
Tall forward
Northern Knights/Vic Metro
199c

Should be still available in the late 20's which would be a bargain....at least on par with a few other more hyped KPF's....needs to be pointed out though that none of the KPFs in this draft look like top echelon potential superstars bar perhaps Tauru - who plays both ends but mainly back & Gerryn who is relatively raw and a ruck/forward......they're in next year's crop...why I laugh at people saying we need to grab as many as 3 this year....that would be peak stupidity and a total waste of our draft hand IMO.... :shh

I do think minimum of 2. In that bracket there's  Shanahan like a Riewoldt type good footy smarts, Faull who has big upside and Sim

Agree we need 2. If Balta stays back like he should Gibcus best position is unknown, however I want him down back.

We need minimum 2 top Key Forwards over this and next year's draft. 3 is a stretch however if we get a 3rd for a steal then great. If we somehow snapped up Tauru Shanahan and Jonty we are laughing.

Finn O'Sullivan also weighed in on how he sees top 5 draft of the draft playing out after SEN's Adam Cooney asked him to list himself at pick three, and fill in the blanks around that.

“I’ll say Sam Lalor pick one,” O’Sullivan said.

“It’s a very deep draft pool, but for me, I think he is so powerful. He’s really athletic, he's quick and he’s a great bloke off the field.

“Then I would say Jagga Smith pick two. Sid Draper as pick four to the Crows and Harvey Langford pick five.”

I stand by wanting any 3 of Fos, Lalor, Jagger and Smillie. Feels like we need to find a way to land pick 2 off Norf without sacrificing pick 6.

Think we're a very good chance to get 2, as I'm hoping Smillie slides to 6.

I'm wondering how we acquire Armstrong though. Hope Dees don't take him at 5. Wondering if we need to take him at 6 and I don't think he'd slide to 10.

What clubs have always said is that they don’t burn first round picks drafting for list needs. They take the best available talent at that pick and figure out how to get them into the team later. Just based on all the commentary and mock drafts that show that this one is midfield heavy, I’d wager there’s more chance of Armstrong going closer to pick 18 then pick 6.

I hope you're right and we can get him around 10 or 18.

Agree with what you're saying, just don't agree that it's the best way forward for us now, elsewise well end up with 6+ mids and no developing forwards.

This phantom draft vid wants us to trade picks 6, 10, 11 for pick 2 and North's F1.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi85bhFADLQ

1. Sam Lalor
2. Finn O'Sullivan
21. Jack Whitlock
24. Murphy Reid
27. Alex Dodson
28. Matt Whitlock

Plus North's 2025 first rounder.

it looks extremely unlikely for Richmond trading up to North Melbourne’s selection at 2.

Richmond don’t see a necessary reason too as they don’t think the gap from 2 to 6 is as drastic as soon people believe.

Smilie, Langford, Armstrong and Tauru are all major options at 6 for Richmond alongside Murphy Reid.

if Jagga slides to 6, he’ll be the major choice of preference.

We have enough picks where we could use a couple to prioritise list needs over who our next highest rated kid is. I wouldn’t be going down that route with a top10 pick and I wouldn’t bypass 5+ players we rated higher just to get a forward in i.e. if we rate Armstrong or any forward at 18, we shouldn’t be taking them with 10/12 out of fear they won’t last until our pick at 18 or onwards.

RICHMOND'S huge haul of picks will be the outlier in this year's Telstra AFL Draft, despite the pool catching hype as one of the most even in recent seasons.

The Tigers currently hold eight picks inside the first 24 selections, with the club to consider packaging up picks to climb higher up the board or trade a pick into 2025 for a future first-round selection.

Either way, Richmond's investment will remain the biggest as most clubs look set to use between three and four selections across the two-night draft, with a minimum of 61 picks and maximum of 70 selections expected.

The Tigers are already having clubs make offers for their first-round selections as rivals hope Richmond wants to somewhat space out its huge haul of picks across two draft crops.

However, even if the Tigers move one or two picks, they are still expected to be the biggest player at the draft in terms of the number of selections used.

I think will target the talks after pick 10. Get the elite midfielders and a nice Rioli replacement and then target the talls. Plenty of value there, Shanahan, Faull, Sims ,Whitlock etc.
