Trade the lot?
« on: August 06, 2024, 09:18:08 PM »
If we made all 7 trades we would come in with a massive draft hand.
Dan Rioli at least 1st rounder and a second rounder
Bolton at least 1 first Rounder and a second rounder
Baker possible first rounder and at least a second rounder
Short second rounder
Graham, Broad, K Mac who knows.
Package that lot up hit the draft hard before expansion year??
Any other players we could trade?
Who knows….

KMac, Graham are both unrestricted free agents so there is no trade

Just compo

Personally I just pdnt think we can get rid of all of them

I'd trade Short and Bolton in a heartbeat

Would not be trading Rioli or Broad

Don’t see there being that many changes. Would ensure a north like stint at the bottom of the ladder

If you could get anything for Broad you'd take it.

Graham, Kmac and Short I'm happy to see go regardless of the return.

Baker for the right price but would prefer to see Bolton stay.

Bring a few experienced blokes on board next year that still have legs left to help our kids so we're not getting reamed every single weekend.

Every chance all of the following retire.

Pickett 33, McIntosh 31, Dusty 32, Grimes 33, Naismith 32.
Leaving 30 plus year olds, Broad 32, Lynch 32, Vlastuin 31, Prestia 32, Nankervis 30.The last 5 actually still have roles to play.

Likely delistings imo Cumberland, Colina, Dow well they may not but should.Coulthard,

We wont be trading all three of Bolton, Baker and Rioli.
Most likely it seems is Baker out of contract and Rioli, dimma sniffing. Both are replaceable with their roles.

Bolton is contracted until 2028. He is a quality small forward he is our only quality small fwd hence he is required.

Short contracted until 2027 and he won't be putting his hand up for trade.
Graham may want out and he may get us some compo depending on how silly clubs are and what they may pay him.

We are kidding ourselves if we think any club is going to trade for 31yo battler McIntosh.

That is nine retirements and delisting and three trades/compo,Graham  Baker and Rioli  turning over 11.

A possible outcome with a bundling of late picks for a first rounder could end up something like this.
1, 6, 12, 19,20,21,25, 40, 41 72.

Only keepers for me are D Rioli, Baker and Broad. All for leadership and probably the small two for ability.

Yet if they wanna go we just have to get something back.

For the FA/UFA blokes I just ticked yes if I'm prepared not to matchbsknwe get compo.

Baker is totally expendable - would be utter stupidity & shortsightedness not to trade him while he's at peak value....a mistake we've made far too often over the years (see Graham for the most recent example)....:shh

Claw that would be some trade hand, unsure about Coultard, I think he will go ok

Bolton only quality goalkicking small forward we have.

Lynch our only quality kpf and a player others can learn from. Imo is very much needed short term

Vlastuin is probably our best defender and only decent proven medium defender we have.

Broady similar to Vlastuin his experience is going to be needed.

Prestia well as far as mids go we have so few and he remains a needed commodity until we can either get a few kids up to speed or get a decent mature recruit in. As amature player i think he has plenty to give as a teacher.

Nankervis well at the very least any kids we play will stand taller with him in the team. He continues to be head and shoulders above any other ruckman we have. Still very much required.

All five are required over the short term or next few seasons.

The other 5 30 plus year olds are superfluous to needs imo.
Pickett and McIntosh no longer required given the options we have for running roles. Naismith  sad story but he has to go. His role is covered we signed Ryan for three years well maybe its time for him to step up. Nank Ryan and OHB and we draft a young ruckman for development.
Grimes retired already along with Dusty.

Coulthard have not seen a lot of him he will be 23 and a small fwd and for me he just has not done enough to warrant a spot at his age and type.

If he survives i really hope he can take the step up.
