two things
Raines will play finals footy this year( barring injury )
And no doubt Hawthorn had Peterson "'hidden away "" last year by playing at Aberfeldie  in the Esendon District.
No coincedence  that Aberfeldie is where the Hawks assistant coach Ross Smith played his junior footy and later coached.
I actually thought Raines was okay after half time last night.
At least he got more of the ball than Chris Newman ::)

Just on Raines.
Club instructed Rawlings not to play him in the latter half of last year.
Raines and Rawlings get on okay .
Rawlings and McCrae goes to Brisbane and so does Raines.
All reports everything is good with Raines at Brisbane.

Who cares if he'll be playing finals footy?  Raph Clarke played in the Grand Final.  Does that make him a good player?  Mark Seaby played in a winning Grand Final.  Does that make him a good player?

You say "he will get better with each game".  How about you have this kind of patience with OUR trades.  You threw Thomson under the bus after his first game.

Heard Petersen was doing OK so flipped over and watched the 3rd qtr.  Only seen Peterson get one handball which he handballed directly to a Dee player.

I suppose the other three quarters may have been different.

Peterson was good, pity we couldnt get the best out of him

And he couldn't get the best out of himself and should hold himself accountable, not the club.

The Richmond support staff of 2007 certainly wouldn't be the the Hawks support staff of today but you also can't blame the Richmond staff for him drinking the nights away and getting into fights at pubs and falling through windows.

It was clear since he wasn't picked up straight away initially no clubs rated his natural talent beating his off-field eff ups and it took him a couple of years in the country to again convince a team he was worth another go.

No indictment on Richmond at all here.

And from what I saw of Raines last night, I'll take our draft pick happily still, thanks.

x 3, c'mon Jack you were one of the ones that wanted him gone, along with every other player on our list for that matter.. ::).

Yep, Runner up in the rising star and one bad year and they burn him.
 ::).
If Dustin Martin is runner up in 2010 and has a bad year in 2011, you want to burn him as well.
keep in mind they kept Shulz for 6 years and Patterson for 3 :o

Jack, if Raines is such a good player, how come he kept spudding it up at VFL level?  You take swipes at players like Foley who absolutely smashed it at VFL level (40 possessions every week), and support players like Raines who can barely get 10 touches.

Thomspon had a sternum injury last year, lost alot of upper body strength, his 2009 was a write off

As for Peterson, Jodan Lewis was on the Sunday Footy Show and said that Carl had settled down a lot since he left Richmond. He has a baby now and is living the family life so has a pretty big responsibility to keep him on the straight and narrow now. Carl admits he was at fault for his career at Richmond.
