Great specky on Almost Football Legends. Too bad he didn't have the mindset and commitment for AFL footy.

Well said.  :thumbsup

I had a thread about to be posted but I decided it wasnt worth it due to how I said it.  :rollin   But yes, the "mindset."  :)

Terrific mark, best of luck to the lad.   :clapping

What a mark!!!

Mightytiges...did you see him train last year...and if so...what was he like?  In your view, was the club right in cutting him after only 1 year (I know it is pretty exceptional to do so, and I think they needed special permission from the AFL players association to break his 2 year contract)?

It wasnt his form on the field that led Peterson to being delisted after one year.  I saw him play once at Aurora stadium and he looked bloody good that day.  :'(

"I probably got better support at Hawthorn": Carl Peterson (Herald-Sun)

Carl Peterson's journey ends in a dream

    * Glenn McFarlane
    * From: Sunday Herald Sun
    * March 27, 2010 9:34PM

"I grew up north in the Kimberleys and moved to Perth to go to school and to better my footy opportunities. I went to Richmond (after being drafted in 2006), but I was a bit young and probably did a few things that I shouldn't have. I probably got better support at Hawthorn.

"Clarko was more than happy to give me another chance, and it has paid off for me. I thank him for having a lot of faith."

As if Thursday night's loss to Carlton was not bad enough for Tiger fans, they must have been shattered seeing the player they had drafted at pick 60 in 2006 running around and doing so well in the brown and gold.

He said he had received better support at Waverley than elsewhere but acknowledged that he probably made a few mistakes in his initial, unsuccessful shot at an AFL career.

After half time, he improved out of sight.
At least he will play finals football this year, something he would not have done at punt road.
No doubt he will get better with each game

Heard Petersen was doing OK so flipped over and watched the 3rd qtr.  Only seen Peterson get one handball which he handballed directly to a Dee player.

I suppose the other three quarters may have been different.

And he couldn't get the best out of himself and should hold himself accountable, not the club.

The Richmond support staff of 2007 certainly wouldn't be the the Hawks support staff of today but you also can't blame the Richmond staff for him drinking the nights away and getting into fights at pubs and falling through windows.

It was clear since he wasn't picked up straight away initially no clubs rated his natural talent beating his off-field stuff ups and it took him a couple of years in the country to again convince a team he was worth another go.

No indictment on Richmond at all here.

And from what I saw of Raines last night, I'll take our draft pick happily still, thanks.
