I can confirm that Matt "Doc" Davis is playing at Coburg this season.

Needs to put on some muscle but has shown some good form so far.

He was nearly forgotten last night  :shh

Cheers TFL.

Well at least the right decision was finally made in the end. Too bad it's not our home game. Before the AFL got rid of them I would always get early to the ground to watch the ressies run around.
Yep, was one of the good points and reasons to get to the ground as early as possible.  Warmed up the vocal chords and you got to see the whole team each week.
Yep, 2 games for the price of one. Hopefully once Punt Rd is redeveloped and the oval surface is as big as the Dome we can get some curtain-raiser VFL games there before heading off to the 'G.

MT - the AFL game Rich -v- Geelong is our home game, so all Richmond members can rock up early and watch the curtain raiser  :clapping

The actual VFL game is a designated Geelong home game

Coburg losing Liddle and Horne is a significant loss. It'll mean even more reliance on RFC guys as well next year.

There's plenty of money to go around in the SANFL so no wonder players are moving there if they can't make the AFL. It's arguably the strongest state league over the past few years even with Centrals dominating.

Coburg to play 5 home games at Craigieburn (Hume-Moreland Leader)

This wasn't on the web so I scanned it in.....

Tigers come to town
By VFL | Paddy Higgs
Hume Moreland Leader

ELITE football is destined for Craigieburn, with Victorian Football League club Coburg announcing it will play five home games at Highgate Recreation Reserve in 2010.

Coburg president Bill Balakis confirmed at the club's presentation night on Friday that the Tigers' 10 home games next season would be split between Craigieburn and Coburg City Oval.

The move had been agreed last month, but was only publicly confirmed last week.

It further strengthens the club's ties with the area, with AFL affiliate Richmond using Highgate for its summer training base.

And Coburg received its blessing from local club Craigieburn, which is hoping to play its home games at the reserve in 2010.

``It's official. We've got the head lease,'' Balakis told Leader.

``Part of the deal is to embrace the football people around the area, not to get them off-side. Realistically, it is our talent pathway as a second-tier football club . . . so we don't want to upset the apple cart.''

It will come as music to the ears of Craigieburn FC, which is confident it will also call Highgate Reserve home in 2010.

The quality of the reserve's surface will provide much relief for the Eagles after spending 2009 on the hard expanses of the DS Aitken Reserve. Gaining access to the state-of-the-art facilities at Highgate would be another plus.

Craigieburn president Bernie Shinners said the club had been kept well informed of the negotiations between Coburg and AFL Victoria regarding the move, and viewed it as a positive.

``We welcome the presence of the Coburg Tigers at Highgate, and we believe if handled properly this could result in a win-win position for both the Coburg Tigers and the Craigieburn Football Club,'' Shinners said.

Coburg has announced last week David Newett as its new coach, while Nick Liddle took out the Tigers' best-and-fairest on Friday night.

Why is that TM, do you feel RFC should field its own VFL team?

Potter was Coburg reserves coach wasn't he? Does that mean David Bourke will take over that role or have all the coaches except for Clarke left with the new coach coming in?
