thanks for that !

where should Sarge play ??? i like him in the Forward line and Jackson in the back line

please would be good ...

and WOULD LOVE TO KNOW ... who played in the midfield ??? and who against ???

yeah why is it that we can't kick a ball and hit targets ???

did johnson tag ???

torch on todays effort Sarge should be in the forwards for sure.  :thumbsup

Foley krak howat Johnson blingers Lids Edwards Connors all had stints in the middle as well as one or two others.
Not sure on the match ups sorry. Johnson appeard not to be tagging anyone in particular. Made his own space all day and played superbly. :thumbsup

Fantastic report and pics tiga  :bow :thumbsup :clapping  :cheers. I think we're trying to get out of the habit under Spud of kicking slow up and unders but as yet haven't perfected the flat pass.

okay question time .... lol

Any explanation as to why Tambo was rated one of our best by the media? There seems to be mixed reports on him  ???. Did he do any of those golf wedge chips that struggle to make the distance?  :-\

How did Meyer go and where did he play?

Who played CHB and CHF? I'm presuming Thursty played FB and Sarge FF.

Kane Johnson played superbly and never slowed down. I've been a noted knocker of him but he made me eat my words today. :thumbsup :thumbsup

Our midfield somehow think that stab passes 1 foot off the ground into the forward 50 are the way to go. They need to STOP IT NOW!!! We could have had at least another 10 set shots on goal if only they passed truly and at a reasonable height.
This has been a huge problem for years and doesn't seem to get any better.  What really shiits me is when they do it and they're under no pressure :banghead

Thanks for the report and pics, Tiga.  As others will attest to, it isn't easy to do them.  You will have to be our Sydney correspondent from now on lol.

I have to admit, I was watching the game from an overall perspective and being on the boundary isn't the best for identifying positions. In saying that Danny Meyer appeared to be playing HFF/FP. I wasn't all that impressed with his game. He didn't seem to have any real impact, not that he wasn't trying. maybe I was expecting more from him.

Tambo was in everything which explains why he was listed among our best but his disposal really killed us with many turnovers directly related to him. Yes he did those chip kicks but they were always to someone under pressure. Then he'd go to the extreme and fire off some worm burners to Jack who appears to struggle a bit with that type of delivery.

Also on 3 occasions we took marks inside our forward 50 only to attempt to pass off to someone closer to goal and they were all intercepted by the opposition. This really did my head in as there was no wind to speak of and conditions were perfect for set shots.

Sarge appeared to be playing CHF & Moore/Jackson appeared to be CHB but don't quote me.

Hartigan could have booted 4 but only got one. Really needs to practice his kicking at goal and in General play.
This sums up where he's at.
TW wants to try him as a forward this year, but it won't work unless he can convert more of his chances.

Tiga - I'm feeling a little more positive about Graham following your report. When I saw him last year I thought he had a very, very long way to go. In the intra club match two weeks ago he showed a bit, so it seems he is improving. Time will tell etc.

Your comment on Meyer - he seems to be trying, but there is somehow something missing. If only he could play with a little more intensity, yet at the same time more freedom. Is it just a lack of confidence, or does he just not have the drive?Or could it be that he just doesn't understand the game well enough, and the way to read the play? He could do a lot worse than watch the way Howat  plays. If only he could lift the mental side of his game, because he would hurt the opposition if he could get the ball more often, and run a lot harder.

Thanks for your report, tiga.

Excellent report tiga - top pics too  :thumbsup

That's the problem with the media - they get excited by the number of possessions not the quality of them - been saying it for years. Best example in the hustory of the game is one Nick Daffy - truck loads of kicks in the mid-field but in the majority of cases what benefit :thumbsup :whistle ;D

Jack Riewoldt got stuff all opportunities and on one occasion I could have booted him up the rear end as he had his head down looking away from a swans player who played on into the 50 and goaled. All day our midfied was serving up worm burners to him which he wasn't handling too well. If only they had played to his over head strength.  :banghead :banghead

maybe Jack should have a cuppa with Richo  :cheers the big blokes been putting up with it for years :-\

having siad that though I do hope the Club have a tape of it and point it out the young man - it's all part of learning

Apart from the Club's internal stats, I don't think they have them fluffy for the regional matches. They only publish stats from the NAB Cup games.

Both Plough and Roos swapped notes before Saturday's game

-----------------------------------------------

Coaches collude to set up star clash
Canberra Times, March 3
Merryn Sherwood

A co-operative effort from Richmond and Sydney coaches could see a tantalising match-up between dual Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes and 2005 rising star Brett Deledio in the NAB regional challenge match at Manuka today.

Richmond coach Terry Wallace said he had swapped notes with his opposing mentor Paul Roos during the week to try and provide the best hit-out for all players.

"I've talked to Roosy during the week and what we have tried to do is match up senior blokes on senior blokes and younger guys on younger guys, it's still only a practice match so it's all about having a good hit-out," Wallace said.

"So I'll expect Deledio will play on Adam Goodes and Kane Johnson will play against Brett Kirk, so two hard nuts against each other which should be good."

Deledio will need to play a big role in Richmond's midfield this year if the Tigers are to step up in the premiership season, but Wallace played down the match-up with 2006 Brownlow winner Goodes.

"It's not too important as far as his form in the season goes, I think sometimes we put too many eggs in one basket rather than spreading the load," he said.

"He already has a fair bit of expectation placed on him because he was a No1 draft pick, but he is a very good player so he deals with it well."

Another key match-up will be deja-vu for returning Tigers defender Will Thursfield.

"Will is making his comeback after a serious knee injury and his first game ever was on Mick O'Loughlin," Wallace said.

"So his first game back will be on Mick O'Loughlin, so there is a nice story there."

Sydney has named an almost full-strength team against the young Tigers - who have named every first year player and every rookie on their list for the match.

But Wallace said the battle for the midfield would be the Tigers' focus today.

"We brought up a good half a dozen of our regular midfield, Nathan Foley, Cam Howat, Brett Deledio, Kane Johnson, Richard Tambling," he said after the team arrived in Canberra yesterday.

"They will all play in the centre come round one, so it will be very much a battle of the midfield," he added. The Swans confirmed yesterday most of their returning stars would start on ground.
