Richmond look set to promote Jack Riewoldt for Friday night's AFL clash with Adelaide after the teenager proved he was physically ready to play against men.
Riewoldt, the cousin of St Kilda star Nick, kicked five goals for the Tigers' VFL affiliate last weekend and is set to earn a spot in Richmond's senior side as they chase their first win.
Richmond coach Terry Wallace said Riewoldt, 18, was close to earning his debut.
"He's right up there, he's been an emergency and came over to Adelaide last weekend," he said.
"He's very very close. It will just be how we want to balance out our side and what the weather looks like doing."
Richmond chose Riewoldt with their No.13 pick in last year's national draft and Wallace is convinced the strong-marking, 192cm forward was ready to play against mature bodies given he had done so for a while in the VFL.
"He's ready. It's when we're ready to have him in now," Wallace said.
"He knocks on the door four times a day and asks whether it's this week and has even offered himself out as a ruckman to help us out there."
