The performance was the subject of praise from Tim Watson.

“What about Jack Riewoldt’s response and his game in game 300,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“Richmond too, but Jack’s game… There are a lot of commentators who wrote Jack off two years ago.

“They said that he couldn’t jump, he can’t get to the contest anymore. Well, he can do all that stuff still and he (goes and) kicks six.

“I don’t know that anyone has ever played a better 300th game than Jack Riewoldt played the other night.”

Kane Cornes was full of superlatives for Riewoldt who was able to step up against the odds to help the Tigers snap a four-game losing streak.

“He was unbelievable,” he said.

“To get yourself up after the emotion of the week. I thought the club did it amazingly well the way they celebrated the milestone.

“Then the shift of venue which locked some of his family out. Phenomenal.

“Players are just going to play longer. I look at other players around 30 and they’ve genuinely got five years to go some of them. Jack is probably in that category.”

Jack was circumspect about the rest of the season on 360 tonight.

He said we need to focus on what we can do well and eliminate the scoreboard from that. We want to focus on the process. It is harder to do that when you're not playing well. You can let the scoreboard dictate you. Felt if we kicked those three goals when we jumped Geelong in the 3rd qtr it could have got interesting.

Jack reckons for us to make finals we will need to win all 4 remaining games or 3 of them well and then rely on other results going our way. He added that we know when we play our best footy we are a good side but we're further off than we'd liked to be. A quarter has cost us: obviously against Geelong on the weekend but even against Brisbane our second quarter was off.

Jack also said if we make it we make it and squeeze into the Eight but if we don't win this week then we'll reassess and use it as a building block going forward.

Jack Riewoldt (Richmond) – 44 GOALS

Run home: Fremantle, North Melbourne, GWS Giants, Hawthorn

Riewoldt has experience on his side, having claimed the Coleman Medal in 2010, 2012 and 2018. In the last of those years, he kicked five goals in the final round to storm home, so never rule him out. Riewoldt only kicked one goal against round 22 opponents Greater Western Sydney earlier this season, but added four earlier in the year against round 23 foes Hawthorn. It leaves him in a good position to potentially make up an eight-goal deficit to McKay.

It will be the last thing on Jack's mind and it's unlikely he'll make up the gap anyway, but if McKay (shoulder), Bruce (leg) & obviously Walker all miss the rest of the season then Jack is the co-highest ranked player in the Coleman medal race still playing. He would need 12 goals though in the last two rounds to win it (11 to tie).

Jack and lynch have proved that no player is bigger than the club. If anyone thinks we don’t need to keep developing CCJ then watch Jack last night.

He had a great season, but so what. He doesn’t impact any games if he isn’t scoring that’s the big difference I’ve taken away. One more year out of respect but no guarantee of a game. Same goes for Lynch.

Yeah we're not going to cut Lynch loose with 3 years to go on a huge contract and he won't start getting dropped either... :shh

Not a bad year for a bloke almost 33. Certainly better than I expected this year. Just wanted him to get the 300/700.

Expectations for 2022?

I'm thinking he'll play 15-20 games and jag 30 odd goals before calling time.
