You're right, it was Kingy.

Jack was at least smiling though, the sook...

Bloody outrageous that Kingy would do that. Definitely would have sooked it on the inside. Sookiest sook that ever sooked.  :banghead

For all the claims by some in the media (hello Maclure) that Jack is selfish, Jack now leads the AFL in goal assists with 26 (meaning he's contributed to 83 goals of our goals this season).

Jack has excellent awareness. One step ahead of anyone else up forward.

P. S ....but I'm still not over the loss to Carlscum.   :banghead

Apparently not playing due to a 'back' issue.

Pretty sure it's safe to assume management rather than injury.

Any more info anybody?

Out:
Riewoldt (back)
S Edwards (susp)

In:
Tuck (F yes)
Stephenson

So we'll have Maric, Big O and Vicks in the same team. Hopefully make mincemeat of Ryder and Hill but I predict Vicks will stick to the F50 in the absence of Jack and O is likely in to rest Maric a bit and get some run in his legs in case he's needed come finals.

The same Footy Classified reporter interviewed Jack as well today and Jack said his back is fine, it's more his knee. Like Newy, he would've played on the weekend if it had been a final. It was his call to play against GWS; he didn't pull up as well as he hoped so the he and the medical staff decided to have a week off as it wasn't a final and the boys got the job done anyway without him.

VIDEO: Jack talking about the off-season.

http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/2013-11-18/riewoldt-on-offseason

* It’s been great to get away from the Club and away from the football environment, which, as players, we definitely need to do. I’ll be in rehab. for a little bit, because I’ve had a couple of bits of surgery - just a minor knee operation and a small hip operation as well. It’s just the sort of stuff that’s really clean-ups, which most players go through during their careers.

* They came back in great nick, and it’s a credit to those guys, wanting to improve from last season. Obviously, it (the 2013 season) finished in a disappointing way. It’s hurt a lot of guys and it’s something that we’ll use as a bit of a thing to spur us on during the pre-season and heading into next year.

The players set for new roles in 2014

RICHMOND

JACK RIEWOLDT (134 games)

The star goalkicker moved further from goal in 2013, roaming up the ground in an effort to create space for his teammates and give the Tigers a less predictable forward line. In 2014, however, coach Damien Hardwick has predicted a stable role for Riewoldt in a traditional centre half-forward post. A two-time Coleman medallist, Riewoldt kicked 78 goals in 2010 and 65 goals in 2012. His scoreboard output dropped to 58 goals last season, but he led the team for goal assists. Hardwick expects to have a forward line stocked with tall options Ty Vickery, Shaun Hampson and youngster Liam McBean next season, and by using Riewoldt at centre half-forward he could still contribute 30-40 goals while using his creativity and marking ability to set up many more.

While Jack has good passing skills for a KPP so he is useful kicking inside forward 50, he's not a long booming kick for goal (accuracy range is barely 40m) to be playing too far away from the goals. He's not built like a traditional CHF either. IMO he's still more a natural FF - not only on the lead but it's where his creativity and footy smarts at ground level gets him and us goals.

I agree but I can't really see who else is good enough to play at CHF at this stage. He'll either have to play deep -which would defeat the purpose- or dish it off to one of our longer kicks.  Griffiths & Vickery have the tools but the former is is too soft , the latter too lazy, Elton's a long way off and can't kick a goal to save himself, McBean too skinny right now, current strengths are better suited to other positions and not sure of his range. S.Edwards there is a joke.

In a perfect world Jack would be playing in a forward pocket or FF. Think we have a couple of mids who can play CHF in Martin and Ellis. Martin has the strengths, smarts & range and Ellis has the smarts and marking ability. Plays tall. Both have the agility and reasonable enough pace for the position. Deledio can do it at a pinch too. Obviously none of those three would be permanent fixtures there and only rotate through. Who knows, maybe even Lennon could end up there.

Very hard to find a quality CHF - they don't call it the hardest position on the ground for nothing. There's a reason the few who've truly excelled there are among the most remembered & revered in the game. Operation Get Cameron 2016.

Does anyone else think Jack needs to put on a bit more size/muscle? Not so much that he can barely move, but some. On the RFC website it says he is 195cm tall and 94kg. Whether he plays FF or CHF I would like him to put on another 3,4,5kgs.
He plays on guys heavier than him so I just think with all the one on one stuff he does, a bit more muscle would help.
Troy Chaplin is by no means a man mountain but he is 195cm tall and 99kg and still very agile.
Also with that extra muscle, when a few niggles start to set in toward the end of the year and everyone slows down that little bit, Jack with a bit more muscle would be able to play a bit deeper and not have to lead ALL the time (not that he does)
To look at him his arms and chest are still a HFF size.
Thoughts??

He's not a CHF. His size is suitable for what he does.

Need a KPF with big hips. Look at the hips on Chaplin. Bigger. More power.
