Jack Riewoldt's role at Richmond in 2023

"The fight for spots in back again this year. And that's going to be my year this year. I'm battling for my spot. There's young guys coming through. We saw Samson Ryan come out and play a quarter against the Dees and play really good footy. I've got to play for my spot and there's an element of that that I love and go 'Right, I want to play to play for my spot. I want to be there that first night'." - Jack Riewoldt.

"If I was a Richmond supporter, that is music to my ears that Jack's got that fire in the belly and the competition for spots is on. What he is saying is they couldn't clunk one against Melbourne, albeit a practice match, yet a young kid comes in in Samson Ryan and go bang, bang, bang!" - Garry Lyon.

Okay game tonight but why does he think we can only play just him and Tom in the team. He should not be in a fight for a spot with Ryan but thinking how do we incorporate this kid into making it three talls.

Carlton made a call not to play Pittonet but even with out him in the ruck and Dekoning fwd they had Curnow Silvagni and MckAY

We played our big hit out practice game against the dees.Work it out for yourselves they had how many tall forwards and ruckmen going thru the forward half.

How many did Brisbane throw against us last year Hmm Daniher, Himmelberg and whats his face who went to Collingwood fmd they were regulars. Ah bugger it you lot arent stupid look for yourselves at how the game has gone.

Richmond key forward Jack Riewoldt said both sides were “flat as shark s---” in the rooms, describing the mood as a weird feeling.

“Everyone is a bit flat as shark s--- at the moment,” Riewoldt said on Fox Footy post-match.

“We felt we played the game on our terms… but we probably didn’t make the most of our opportunities tonight.”

x 2, died a bit in the second half but I though he was the best forward in the first half and kept on presenting and taking marks

Jack's got a decent shiner on his forehead. 8 staples in there too so that will leave a nice scar. Gutsy to come back on and kick 4 goals.
