Two arrested after Bulldogs fans go berserk following controversial NRL finish
Nine news
April 4, 2015

Two people have been arrested for assault and domestic violence as the violent fan fallout from tonight's NRL Rabbitohs-Bulldogs game continues.

Referees, officials and other fans have been pelted with bottles after a controversial ruling in this evening’s Good Friday match.

One of the alleged culprits was arrested for domestic violence offences, while another male was taken to hospital after being allegedly attacked.

There were reports one 17-year-old South Sydney fan was attacked outside the ground.

Two more people have been identified as having allegedly thrown bottles and police will seek to arrest them.

TWO Canterbury fans face the prospect of life bans after allegedly being identified among supporters who threw bottles at match officials — leaving a touch judge with a suspected broken shoulder last night.

Incensed Bulldogs fans, angry at their team’s loss to Souths at ANZ Stadium, hurled bottles of water from the stands, striking several officials and causing one to fall heavily (left).

Best half ive ever seen. They kept coming and coming but couldn't break that defence until the end.

JT what a machine. Seriously if he was my captain i wouldn't stop busting your gut until the end.

Dont follow the sport all that much until finals time, but I do know that Broncos like the Hawks can FO. They have won enough.

The referees in the NRL Grand Final must have wanted to out do Razor Ray and make the game all about them.

So much for the old saying that the umps/refs won't change their mind. Gifted the NRL premiership to the Roosters.

Then there was the falcon off the Roosters' trainer when a Canberra player would have waltzed down the field for a try.

Surprise surprise it favours the top-end-of-towner Easts....

But seriously, who gives a shyte about that bastadised game. Even when it was tight it was still an absolute bore. I seriously dont understand why I bother watching the GF.

The bloke in charge of the refs, appoints his brother to the GF. Just like he did with the State of Origin

How the NRL can keep a straight face around this brotherly love is farcical

Ch 9 has let rip at the NRL accusing it of years of financial incompetence and mismanagement.

The article says Nine is threatening to walk away from the sport.

------------------------------------------

At Nine we had hoped to work with the NRL on a solution to the issues facing rugby league in 2020, brought on so starkly by COVID-19,” the statement began.

“But this health crisis in our community has highlighted the mismanagement of the code over many years. Nine has invested hundreds of millions in this game over decades and we now find they have profoundly wasted those funds with very little to fall back on to support the clubs, the players and supporters.

“In the past the NRL have had problems and we’ve bailed them out many times including a $50m loan to support clubs when the last contract was signed.

“It would now appear that much of that has been squandered by a bloated head office completely ignoring the needs of the clubs, players and supporters.”

Good but crazy deciding game in the NRL State of Origin.

Carnage in the first half with 3 blokes going off with concussion plus some old fashioned 80s "biff".

Qld is probably in mourning with both Brisbane teams choking in their respective GFs in the same weekend.
