Round 1: Tiges vs Carlton / v Carlton (Team)
« on: March 17, 2007, 10:57:07 PM »
The mongrels are going to be chock full of (over)confidence after tonight. They were lucky the Lions were off-target with more scoring shots.

Hopefully we can burst their bubble just like we did in 2005  :thumbsup.

Shame it wasn't our home game - would have reaped some benefits from a full house
Let's hope they celebrate and get on the turps for a couple of weeks  :thumbsup

Thats about the only thing that will help us win.

They have had a great pre-season and are flying.

Unless our decision making improves out of sight i cant see us getting within 6 goals of Carlton.

And there is nothing i hate more than arrogant Carlton supporters, they will be talking about winning the flag now.

the blues game plan is so predictable
they also have displayed their whole deck of cards
whereas we havent
i saw the blues play a few games and was amazed they won cos they were crap and fairdinkum teams woudl have beaten them, they were just very lucky they played worse teams like essendon early on
dont stress, the waywe played in mildura showed better form than the blues winning the "who gives a f cup".
listening top SEN today , apparantley richo had a very hard and grueling training session and fitness test and came up trumps!
richo and brown alone will beat the blues

The one thing about the Blues last night (and I didn't see the game only read the reports) was that they didn't rely on Fev to kick all the goals. Fisher stood up and kicked 4 as well - doesn't do it enough IMHO but struth when he is on song.

I reckon we are strong chance against the Blues but it will be bloody tight

Picking the Tiges, because the Monday's headlines after this game will be "Brown's Back in Business".
Cannot wait to see Nathan do his stuff again, and sounds like he is already in good form.
Fevola will be a handful, but so will Richo for them.  Added with Brown and a few others, we'll kick their arse.
They didn't come last last year for nothiing, because they're rebuilding just like we are.  They've got some great kids coming through, courtesy of coming last, but I think we are a couple of years ahead of them.
I hope by 2009 we are playing them in the grand final.  Would be awesome to see that rivalry back again.

Here's how I think we will match up. I didn't try to include any maybes or anyone under an injury cloud. No Simmo, Thursty or Knobel. McGuane and Moore fighting out the last spot on the bench. On paper the Blues seem to have a better structure due to us missing injured talls - Simmo and Thursty.

Thoughts?

tough match, every match is tough for us ...

v carlton round 1
v sydney round 2 home

its a big match and would be great if we win ... carlton are flying with confidence ...

carlton shouldn't make the 8 ... so we have to just win these matches against bottom 8 teams ...

will be tough ...

but there is 2 weeks to go ... so its a long time ...

Yep as we have two Tiges on the long term injury list. Howat is a given and Graham to debut assuming Knobel isn't 100%.
