A couple of comments about us tonight:

* Hutchy asked Lloyd if these late wins are fool's gold and there's the risk Richmond will think the early season 'form' was an aberration? Lloyd replied that they can't go down the path again of recruiting mature players. They need to keep building and recruiting more kids and back them. Lyon added Richmond hasn't yet shown they can handle the pressure of expectation that comes with winning and perform. Ever since Frawley was coach they have struggled with expectation when they made a Preliminary Final and then weren't seen in the finals again for a very long time.

* On the back of Vickery and Conca's suspensions, Hutchy asked if Hardwick has a disciplinary problem with his playing group. Caro said Hardwick has obviously pushed the playing tough and hard message but it's come off the wrong way spectacularly. They also showed vision of Dusty dumping Bugg off the ball on the weekend. Lyon said they need to stop acting as peanuts as there's nothing tough about chasing a guy 5m away on the boundary as he is going off and clocking him in the back of the head; Tough is going hard at the footy. Lloyd said you could see Conca just had anger in his eyes and he was lucky he didn't do more damage. Caro agreed it did look very nasty.

I agree with Lloyd here. We need to ensure we use our first three picks at minimum this year on the draft. It is an uncompromised draft and runs deep from all accounts. I think we did extremely well with our rookie draft but the mature age players we brought in using our draft picks have been a disappointment imo.

we don't handle the big games well that's true but considering we have only been in the finals once since Frawley took us there its a bit rich to say expectation is the thing that is keeping us down. I think its a little more than that.

I know they get payed a lot of money to make a mountain out of a mole hill but I think those comments are ridiculous. Conca had a brain fade and reacted after being angry about the way he was roughed up moments before. If he had of hit him in the back with his arm, like I'm guessing he intended, this would be a non issue. Trying to say that the last two weeks point to a much greater problem is bs.

Tonight's segment on Richmond:

* Nice for a change to have the media bag another club (GWS) and their lack of player development for delisting and letting a good player (Miles) end up at Richmond.

* Lyon still hasn't got over Scully walking out of Melbourne to go to GWS and put up a stat showing Miles is well ahead of Scully in avg. disposals, avg. kicks, clearances and contested footy. They also included a stat showing that Miles earns around $430 per disposal compared to Scully's $3,300. So Miles is value for money. Caro said she expects Miles to sign a new two-year deal in a couple of weeks time.

* On Richmond as a team specifically, Lloyd said there's definitely be a change in their gameplan from earlier in the season to now. He showed vision of the Swans game with the continually chipping of the ball sideways and backwards. He mentioned in that game Richmond scored 1 goal from 250 possessions (in the last half and a bit). In his opinion, Jack Riewoldt was right and Richmond was trying to emulate Hawthorn and it wasn't working. In the last 6 weeks, Richmond have gone back to that hard contested footy and moving the ball quickly that they do best and it's working for them. Lloyd showed another clip from Friday night of Houli, from the kick-in, kicking long to Griffiths who kicks long to Jack on the wing; Jack then turns quickly and goes long inside forward 50 giving Lids a 1-on-1 marking contest which sets up the first goal of the night and gets Lids on his way.

* Out of interest, we're on top of the form ladder from the past six weeks:

Rich  6-0
Geel  6-0
Syd   5-1
Haw  5-1
Adel  4-2
Freo  4-2
North 3-3
WCE  3-3
----------
Ess    3-3
Carl   3-3
WB    3-3
Bris    3-3
Coll   2-4
GC    2-4
Port  1-5
St K  1-5
GWS  0-6
Melb  0-6

Because it's expected from them. It's a novelty for us.

The wheels really have fallen off for Port - 1-5 and Gold Coast 2-4. We need the wheels to fall of for the Crows, West Coast, Essendon and Collingwood now. Is that too much to ask  :shh

Miles was a great get now wasn't he  :thumbsup

I'm struggling to buy Into this "miles had to play twos, even when the seniors lost ten games in the early part of season. Due to developing his game in the reserves."

It would be more believable IMO if at the same time there was not a number of senior player not getting dropped regardless of shyte form. What good for the goose is not so good for the gander at punt road it seems

They would have brought him in earlier but they could not elevate him earlier after already elevating the Big O and Thomas. He was really a victim of circumstances in many ways. Maric went down so the Big O was elevated as insurance leaving only one spot open. Thomas and Miles were both brought in to fill the same role. Thomas was the more experienced, consistent and proven of the two so he was given the nod.

If the decision had of been left a few more weeks so the club could see Miles perform over more than a few practice games, the club may have chosen Miles instead. The club chose the safer option with both rookie elevations. I can't blame the club for that.
