Played 4 games in the VFL
5th Game back for Morris
And yet his knee was only stressed enough in the big league. And it wasn't even a final.....  :shh

So let’s put Cotchin in mothballs for the rest of the year ....

And yet he is an investment. He has 2 more years on his contract to fulfil. He hasn't played since round one and probably never kicked a ball let alone compete in anger at training. His touch and judgement would be wsy off. So we risk bringing him back in when the competition is at its fiercest. Big call. Or you could back the crew who actually got you to the finals in the first place....  :shh

This is Alex frkn Rance we are talking about.

If he is cleared by his surgeon and our team doctor then he comes straight in.

If he reinjuries his knee than that’s very unlucky but the same thing could happen if they decide to hold him back until next year.

I mean did you see the way he did it in the first place? There wasn’t any contact, it didn’t even look like he landed any differently to every other contest he’s ever been in. It was just like many other injuries a freak accident.

You’re not listening. I am saying I doubt Julian will say he’s good to go. In fact I’d be very surprised. Funnier things have happened though..... :shh

No I get that and 1000% agree if the doc is in any way hesitant then it should be a no go.

But feels like some are saying don’t risk him just for the sake of it regardless of what the surgeon says.

The risk is too great??

A premiership is up for grabs and he could be the difference.

Hypothetic question-
Would you take a premiership this year and lose Rance for next year?
Or would you forgo that premiership for him and us to “maybe” be in contention next year?

Sorry I missed this

After all the abuse I've copped on this forum by some posters when posing hypotheticals I tend not to play and sorry not playing this time

What I will say is if his surgeon says the risk is too great to his long term future, then no I wouldn't and I'd back in the blokes who have got us there to win us that flag

As a side note, I played cricket with someone who had a knee reco, they came back from it too early and their knee is now shot to pieces, they can no longer bend their knee. Knee replacement hasnt worked either. Wouldn't wish their suffering on anyone

I'd threaten him with a blood transfusion! Hypothetically, of course!

You know, your not an expert when it comes to “not listening”.
Your last response to my post completely avoided the principle of what I was posting....

Your last post was about Cotchin and his hamstring which has nothing to do with a knee reconstruction. One is a muscle that tears and one is a tendon that is removed from its origin and is screwed into place. The former has usually a recovery period of weeks, the latter of many months. Scans are also effective in seeing the healing process in the former but are not good for the latter.

So I’m not sure what principle you were using here.

People heal at different rates so using a “blanket” time frame for all knee recos is stupid IMO.

And like the “Good Doctor” says there is no real way of seeing if the knee has healed to the point of the surgeon being confident, other than just the obituary usual time frame.

So to me that says the surgeon is basically guessing too.

Take a look at Dale Morris, I’m sure he would have got the all clear from the docs, so they aren’t always right. And that means right both ways.

All good, it’s no big deal. If you read my original post, we basically agree
