Fresh fears for @Richmond_FC star Alex Rance as he considers walking away from the game at Season’s end.

Rance confided to teammates he wants to travel the world with wife in 2020.

Tigers panicking. In better news, he’s pencilled in the club’s last H&A match for 4comeback game

Is that for real??

Considering the source.I highly doubt it....,,but would it really be as devasting now as it would've been a year ago? Proved we can manage without him...not to mention what we could do with the extra cap space.....:shh

He's contracted isn't he? He will play full stop. Rance wants to do X, Y and Z but he knows his career will end long before he is too old to do that.

Rance, who suffered an ACL injury in Round 1, completed some running drills at training on Thursday and will meet his surgeon next Friday to discuss whether he could return to the Richmond defence this year.

“He’s running, he’s looking very active,” Hardwick said.

“He’s got a couple of things tick off before we get to that stage (playing again this year).

“We haven’t opened that door but we certainly haven’t closed it, either.”

My issue with good ole Tony is around the reason he got the flick from Ch7. What he did was abhorent

Now you are implying that he has supposedly gone public with something a mate told him. A decent mate wouldn't try and score media points by blabbing details of private conversation

Alex Rance looms as wildcard for Richmond’s flag push

Star Richmond defender Alex Rance is growing in confidence he can return to AFL action this year, according to his teammate Bachar Houli.

Rance ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in round one but he hasn’t given up hope of returning during the finals.

Any return this year would come with significant risks and Richmond will probably err on the side of caution when decision day comes.

But Rance is doing everything within his powers to give himself a chance, and Houli has been amazed by the 29-year-old’s progress.

“He’s a very confident person that he will return,” Houli told Channel Seven’s Game Day.

“The way he runs, it actually doesn’t look like he’s done any sort of damage. His recovery is A1.

“I see him in the cold plunge pool which I struggle to get in, sitting there for 10, 15 minutes.

“When you see that attitude and determination, he’s giving himself every opportunity to come back.

“I’d love to see him back. He just adds so much to our football club.”

BARRETT: In Rance's mind, it's full speed ahead for finals

AFL.com.au
Damian Barrett

IN ALEX Rance's mind, he's returning to football this season.

If he receives ultra-positive news out of a meeting with his surgeon late this week, he might even push for a comeback via the VFL next weekend.

Richmond officials continue to talk conservatively about the chances of their five-time All Australian making the most incredible of returns, but they also know they are dealing with one of the most determined men to ever play the game.

Rance ruptured his ACL in round one this season. A fortnight ago, he hit his own top speed when running in a straight line, and it is believed his knee has more than coped with simple sideways-movement drills.

Rance's teammates are aware that he intends to go all-out in his bid to return for the finals. Some have seen enough of the desire in his eyes to be convinced he won’t be able to be stopped.

The Tigers won their sixth straight match on Saturday night, toying with Melbourne after half-time on Saturday night.

Their three remaining matches are at the MCG – against Carlton, West Coast and Brisbane.

Rance's comeback plans are high stakes for Richmond, as it already has a big decision to make on the return timeframe for captain Trent Cotchin.

Cotchin has missed nine matches this year with hamstring problems. Ideally, he plays before the side's first final, but a round 23 return would be cutting things fine given his problems this year.

Can someone confirm ...

Rance is on the Long Term Injury List?

Which means since he was official on it, he can’t play until after the Home and Away season?
