RFC website [merged]
« on: March 12, 2008, 06:46:40 AM »
Just saw the new look RFC website and noticed they had us 12th on the ladder due to it being in alphabetical order, Unfortunately with my warped sense of humour the first think that popped into my mind was that that is the highest we are going to be all season.

They may as well left it alone, it looks like a 10 year old has done the layout.
What are others thoughts?

Meh. It's ok I suppose. I like the calendar thingy, lets me see when we are playing at a glance. A bit disappointed that they still can't write a web site that doesn't do horrible things to the scaling of the graphics or at least take the care to make sure the graphics are sized ok before they launch. It's what I have come to expect now so I can't really say I am surprised.

Not many features that jump out and say, "Wow, look at me, I'm new and surprisingly useful." Not a step back from the old site but not much of a step forward either. Perhaps there are a few features that become apparent once the season starts.

Reminiscent of vanilla ice cream. I'm not trying to be too critical, you can have some very good vanilla ice cream, I like vanilla ice cream, but I wouldn't call it exciting.

Positives:
* Looks 10 times better although that wasn't too hard.
* Things are better set out.

Negatives:
* Still bloody slow to load. In fact it's slower  :-\.
* Why is it slow to load? 300 images  :o to download just to load the site that's why ::).
* Still info is out of date. The membership tally has gone back to February  :-\

How much smaller could they make that David Gourdis pic  :rollin

Along the same line........the easter egg that is wrapped as an aussie rules football has a cardboard ladder on the side of the box, that you cut out and use for the year....it has us us third! I thought that looked pretty good :lol

I wish we did too Ramps but until the club receives $2m from some other sponsor to do it then I guess we're stuck with the crappy website from Telstra  :help.

That would be close to the slowest site on the internet.

I'd hate to see it with dial up!!

Just to answer my own question it's in the scrolldown under the "fans" button.

Good to see the Telstra site is up to its usual standard and our membership has gone backwards in time  :wallywink

Not sure what this means. Do we get paid $2m by the AFL for letting Telstra run our website?

Yep something like that 1980. Telstra have paid $60m for the AFL internet and mobile rights and I believe each of the 15 clubs get a $2m slice. Essendon thanks to Yahoo, Seven and 3 have their own independent site of course.
