Are you going to Adelaide this week Jack and did you go to our 4 other interstate games this year?

Nah, cant afford it :lol :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :whistle :whistle :whistle
Just curious as at $4 a week you could have flown over to Adelaide this Sunday given the hardcore supporter you claim to be  :whistle

I don't have to as I'm not the one having a sook just so he can bag our own supporters and inflate his own tyres .

Without these supporters you bag Jack this club would've been dead long ago. They weren't and aren't the ones who have screwed the club over the past 26 years and they didn't distract the club midweek with more off-field crap ::).

I think you mean You're  :wallywink

LOL you believing the AFL chooses the fixture to maximise crowds. We finish top 4 in crowd numbers every year and it means bugger all as far as the fixture. It's all about tv ratings and $$$ and if you've been crap on-field you don't get the Friday nighters. It's the neutral supporters that bump up the numbers and they don't watch crap teams and games. Someone in marketing should already know that  ;).

Richmond Friday night games per season: (previous year finish)

2008:  0*     (16th)             *- 1 if you count the Easter Thursday game.
2007:  4       (9th)
2006:  4       (12th)

2004:  4       (13th)
2003:  3       (14th)
2002:  7       (3rd)

Wow what a coincidence! A top 4 finish gave us 7 Friday nighters the following year while our wooden spoons gave us a token one at best.

You'll also find Jack that more people in Melbourne watched us on tv play Brisbane (a home game) than Geelong (away game). So much for your theory that supporters prefer watching away games on tv than going  ;).

Look I can understand why people can and can't go to away games. Each to their own. In terms of away supporters that Jack talks about well 26 years of on field crap that we have endured will have a significant thing to do with our presence in the ground. I am sure if we were in an era similar to the one between 67-80  and with the number of blockbuster games played at the G we would be getting similar or more than lets say Collingwood  Essendon or Carlton who have seen their fair sure of ups. Especially the latter 2 the Pies are just mediocre at anything they do and the awful truth is a large minority of our society reflects this mediocrity and underachieving by hanging on grimly to the ideals that Collingwood is. But anyway back to the point.
I am not disagreeing with either MT nor Jack but if people who buy 11 game home memberships make the effort to go to 11 games and we are struggling on field for as long as we are then their effort to get to away games will diminish. Unfortunantely success starvation may affect numbers as well as probability of winning and when you look at the opponent we were playing then that may be another factor as to why people stay away.

Personally I went on Saturday night. I have an 11 game home membership and could not afford at the time of renewal to get a 16 game membership which I would have got. Anyway rather than harking on about my money I still always go to away games as I did on Saturday night. I went with a mate who was a member and my sister who's no member and is only just starting to see the light with the yellow and black and we sat in Aisle 9 on the top level row B which is general admission and paid $36.05 for the priviledge for tix I purchased last Wednesday. There I go again about my moolah $36 for a ticket that normally is $20. Maybe its the principle of the thing to some fans who feel that why should they pay those sort of prices as an away supporter to see us get beaten by Geelong. Same as last year when we played Essendon (not the result of course) when tix prices were inflated for the away supporter. To me I would watch the Tigers anywhere and a 16 game membership will still have prevented me from sitting in the gen admission area top level in the first 8 or so rows, so inequities in the way clubs and the AFL distribute tix is why we have these issues. Hence our fans stay away also and generally most away fans do especially at the dome where capacity is only 53K and there is not the room there as there is at the G.

LOL :whistle :whistle
How would tv ratings effect the crowd from one sat night to the next. ::) ::) ::)

Well you're the one that brought up friday night games which are made for tv games and then tried to pin our lack of them on one Saturday night away game when in fact it's based on where a club finishes on the ladder the previous year. Pretty simple.

Good post HT74  :clapping. People don't like being ripped-off and with the Dome's limited capacity that's where it often happens.

Might add you are paying for a "" different product"" when you walk into the dome.

Is that Ian Collins and his mumbo jumbo of excuses for ripping people off speaking?! "Different product" ... oh please! :rollin.  We're going to the footy FFS!

You get a plastic fold-down seat to watch the game, 80's elevator music pre-game, an annoying announcer who says "get ready tiger fans, give us a roar" that kills the natural atmosphere as the team runs out, plus food 3 times the price of outside  ::). Yep I can't understand why we pay more at the Dome than the 'G. We're suckers!

You have no idea about Marketing do you :banghead
Last timed I looked the Dome had a roof on it.
The atompshere last sat week was the best thing I have been to in a long time.
You are able to eat in fantastic restaurants., you should try it one day, its fun you know. :lol
Might add the chips and pies are the same price as at the G. ::)

Why is this wacko thread still going? The answer was fairly obvious...a lot of members buy 11 game home memberships. People buy reserve seats and get to sit downstairs at home games, but are forced to sit up top or pay over the top for reserve seating for away games.

FWIW, I have an 18 game membership and I didn't go to either the Brissie game OR the Geelong game. I would go to any game I can, be it home or away, but I work Saturday nights so I didn't go. If I am lucky I'll see two more games this year.

Sometimes, people have more important things to do...deal with it.
My parents bought me a Richmond jumper and enrolled me in a junior footy clinic in 1981...look at me now.

richmond fans hate the tesltra dome, infact all club fans do.

It takes an hour to get in, and an hour to get out.

The club knows this and is trying to schedule as few games as possible at TD in the coming years.

Better onfield results will help us achieve our goals

The TD is ahole :chuck
