Picks 8, 26, 58 and 70
« on: August 31, 2008, 07:18:13 PM »
The season is done and dusted for us and our draft picks (pre-trade week) are 8, 26, 42, 58, ...

Up to Craig Cameron and Francis Jackson to do their stuff in Wallace's last draft of his current 5-year contract.

Im hoping the club leaves the draft with a Ruckman, KPP and midfielder with the 3 picks. I wouldnt be selecting past 42 in this draft but thats just my non expert opinion.

I aint a expert from far from it but they better not eff up again and throw draft picks away with duds like McMahon.

Keep the picks dammit and use them wisely.

No warnock who does he think he is 500k-give me a fcukin break, No Kerr(unless its a miracle and his cheap).

youth only in this draft but i think they will stuff it up again.

Agree with the choices Ramps. The KPP would be more a big forward IMO as we have Rance as a young key defender waiting in the wings and Polak is apparently unlikely to play again according to Caro. I think we'll go with 3 picks too unless we are able to get another top 30 pick via a trade. The ruck issue is harder as we have Graham and Putt as young rucks but no one in that early-mid 20s bracket apart fron Cartledge (who looks like he'll be delisted).

Any truth to the rumours of our supposed interest in the young ruckman from Adelaide?

Havent got a great grasp on each draftee yet but if we got. . . .

8. Tyrone Vickery 200cm 86kg Sandringham Dragons  -  Ruck

26. Neville Jetta 178cm 75kg Swan Districts.  -  Mid/small forward.

42. Tom Lynch 191cm 84kg Sandringham Dragons  -  KP forward

58 (if used): Jay Shannon 180cm 82kg Port Magpies.  -  Inside Mid

I'd be absolutely stoked.  Depending on how they perform at the draft camp Jetta and Lynch might need swapping on the wish list.  ;D

I would go for a genuine mid at 26 TA but would be very happy with Vickery if he slips to our pick 8. We got Cogs at pick 26 out of interest in 2000.

Griffin would be a cheaper option to Warnock although he was recruited as a 202cm lanky key forward in 2005. Started this year well and had 2 games of 30+ hitouts then disappeared in the season half of the year. Someone on the trading/draft board of BF a week ago said Richmond was watching him in the SANFL because we think we'll miss out on Warnock.

Tyrone Vickery has already been down to Punt Rd.

Quote
His father John played four games for Collingwood in the early 1970s and is now a fitness adviser at Richmond.

"I've been able to utilise that, especially when I had a knee reconstruction," Vickery said. "I was able to use (Richmond's) facilities and knowledge to get back fairly quickly.

"He's always the first person I ask for advice. He gets to see a lot of my matches so he's able to give me a lot of constructive criticism."

A teenage ruckman with a knee-reco...  the word "due-diligence" springs to mind for some reason.

He's played pretty well this year despite the reco, it's not like he's still hampered by the injury

touch wood it doesn't happen but he is only 17 and his already had one.

another one and his career might be over. Isn't there a hawks player who may never play again as he has had 2.

Max Bailey is a little different, he's had 2 recos in a row after the first one didn't work
Vickery has had one and had a successful recovery as a kid, Richo had one 10 years ago as a slightly older kid and turned out alright still, most players who have just one come back fine.

Not true.

Matthew Richardson, Will Thursfield, Anthony Koutoufides, Anthony Stevens, Robert Harvey, Robert Murphy, Lenny Hayes, Mitch Hahn, Alan Didak, David Rodan, Tarkyn Lockyer, David Wojcinski, Rhyce Shaw, Ben Hudson, Chris Grant, Nathan Burke, Dean Solomon, Darren Gaspar, Tony Liberatore, Brad Fisher, even Malceski is looking like making a full recovery after 2 recos

Some pretty handy players in that list, in fact I reckon you'd be a decent chance to make a premiership side out of that list

FB Fisher Gaspar Solomon
HB Wojcinski Thursfield Lockyer
C  Koutoufides Hahn Stevens
HF Didak Richardson Harvey
FF Rodan Grant Murphy
RU Hudson Hayes Burke

Defence maybe the weak link but that midfield and forward line would be hard to beat, few decent players left over for the bench too

Not true you say? Well I've never paid much attention to your opinion anyway, I'm not exactly going to start any time soon
