I would think that for every member that has said they will leave, will not leave as they as just being hot heads and will sit back and see this as a good thing.
But those that leave I think we might get 3 new members to cover the one we lose.
So we will be the winners overall.
Then half way through the season the members that tossed in their membership will rejoin.
Making us close to the top membershiped team in the AFL.  :gotigers

Channel 9 news reported that the RFC sold 600 memberships today.

At this time of year they normally sell 600 in a week

600 @ say average $150 = $90k

I did say we might be close to the top in membership and if that 600 number is right we are going to be looking good. :clapping

Membership surge follows draft
Sam Edmund | December 17, 2008

BEN Cousins is set to boost Richmond's coffers in a recruitment that goes well beyond the boundary line.

Cousins, who will train with his new teammates for the first time today, has already sparked a membership, merchandise and sponsorship boom at Punt Rd.

Richmond fans lobbied their club aggressively to pursue Cousins, but they now appear to be showing the faith where it counts most.

The Tigers yesterday sold more than 600 new memberships -- what they normally sell in a week -- after recruiting Cousins in the pre-season draft.

Another 1000 are expected to follow today.

Even West Coast members have called the Tigers to request membership forms, with the club's 2008 record of 30,800 almost certain to be passed.

Richmond and retailers left cheering (Age)

Richmond and retailers left cheering
Richard Willingham
December 18, 2008

THE arrival of Ben Cousins at Punt Road has not only boosted the Tigers' onfield aspirations, it has sent memberships soaring and brought Christmas cheer to football retailers in two states.

A sudden surge in membership inquiries after Cousins' recruitment on Tuesday crashed Richmond's computer system.

Club officials said about 1500 memberships had been sold since 10am on Tuesday.

The membership surge is not a Melbourne-only phenomenon. Across the Nullarbor, stores in Perth reported that many West Coast members, and even some Dockers fans, had bought Richmond memberships in the wake of Cousins' move. This was confirmed by Richmond.

The manager of the Carousel AFL store in Perth, Candice Burgess, said most customers over the past two days had been buying Richmond apparel — something she had not seen before in the two-team city.

Stores across Melbourne also had a surge in sales of Richmond merchandise.

The manager of the 4 the Game store at DFO Docklands, Adam MacDonald, said business had been flat out since the first Tiger fan walked into his shop an hour after Tuesday's pre-season draft.

"Today has been massive. All my Christmases have come at once," he said.

Healy on 3aw just said he spoke to the Club today and our merchandise and membership sales in the past 24 hours or so would normally take 2-3 weeks to generate.
