we will have around 35,000 ticketed by cut off date. :thumbsup

Id be disappointed if we didnt hit 40,000 ticketed

That would be an increase of over 20% on last year.  How unrealistic do you want to be?  :o  :help

I'd be disappointed with under 35,000 ticketed but over the bloody moon with 40,000.

We would need to get off to a flyer to reach 40k ticketed now. That means beating Carlton, Geelong and the Dogs to get the finals bandwagon firing up on all cylinders. It's gone quiet media wise since we got knocked out of the NAB Cup and played a young side against the Saints. Apart from Polly's comeback most of the media are waiting until just before round 1 to jump back onto the Cousins 24/7 watch.

Tigers break membership record
12:35 PM Wed 11 March, 2009

The Richmond Football Club has broken its all-time membership record
The Richmond Football has broken its all-time club membership record for the fourth consecutive year.

The Tigers have eclipsed last year’s 30 June cut off tally of 30,800.

As of close of business last night, the Club had secured 31,052 match-day members, with a further 7,738 non match-day members.

“Breaking the record is a tribute to our loyal supporters, who have continued to join the club year after year,” Richmond CEO Steven Wright said today.

”It is very exciting time at the club and we’re really pleased that our passionate supporter base is taking this journey with us,” he said.

“We still have a number of members who are yet to renew, so we encourage them to get on board to ensure we can reach our goal of 35,000 by June 30 and hopefully 40,000 in the not too distant future.”

“40,000 members is regarded as a minimum for the future if Richmond is able to viably compete against other financially strong clubs,” Wright said.

Richmond membership tally since 2003:
2003 - 25,101
2004 – 27,133
2005 – 28,029
2006 – 29,406
2007 – 30,044
2008 – 30,820

Almost 39k members combined and we're still 2 weeks away from the start of the season. A strong start to the season could see us end up somewhere in the 45-50k region. Well done RFC  :clapping

Ticketed:      31,052
Non-ticketed:  7,738
Combined:    38,790  :clapping

Fantastic stuff. :bow

Now we need to cash in on this playing wise and continue the improvement to get to 45-50K in subsequent seasons. Just proves that we are a Big 4 Melbourne Club and when things are up and running smoothly with plenty of games at the MCG we could well be the most watched AFL side which would mean we would benefit from a better more friendly MCG draw to which would only add to the membership base. Not a big 4 club then but a big 2 club :cheers

Since recruiting Brownlow medallist Ben Cousins, the Tigers have already eclipsed last season's record of 30,800 and Richmond's figure hit 31,100 yesterday but the club hopes to top 35,000.

Quite amazing the difference in membership support of AFL clubs compared to the NRL. Russell Crowe was on the NRL footy show and his club South Sydney have just 7,700 members yet it's the most of any club in the NRL. Only one club in the NRL makes a profit consistently from footy operations and their respective leagues club's funding is apparently down $1m (20% fall). Parramatta is apparently something like $8m short. It makes you grateful that their are around 40,000 RFC members willing to put their hard earn into the club we love even in such difficult economic times  :clapping :thumbsup.

RFC should not be publishing the split between ticketed and non ticketed members. There should only be 1 number reflecting the total membership of the club and that is ticketed + non ticketed = total member number. Thats the number that should be on the website only.

The split should only be needed for internal club consumption and should not be on the official club website.

Agree Ramps. That's what Essendon do. The AFL can publish their farcicial figures later on in the year.
