Any of you blokes into Walking Dead? These mid season breaks are the biggest cop out. Probably to give some sort longevity to short seasons but it's crap to watch something for 6 weeks or so then nothing again for about 3 months.

Im interested to see how it measures up against breaking bad and soa which i really enjoyed.

a friend has also suggested Homeland is up there as well.

Breaking Bad was absolutely gold. I was reluctant at first but once I gave it a go I was hooked. The last few episodes and the bombshells dropped were amazing. Also respect how the show was wrapped up regardless of popularity and not flogged to milk every dollar out of it. Spinoff with Saul should be out next year though.

Walking Dead is great if you're behind and can chew into seasons at a time as there are a few slow moments. It's more about people trying to survive and how they cope in a post apocalyptic world more so than just zombies. Great show but makes for a few slow moments. IMO parts of seasons 3 and 4 got mighty dull but wanting to know what happens next is enough to keep you going and so far season 5 has been remarkable.

Season 1 of Vikings has started again on FX on Fox. Watched the first episode the other night and found it pretty average but I'll give it a chance for another couple episodes.

gratuitous sex, nudity and violence, what more can you ask for

not to the same level as Game of Thrones or Spartacus, though.

I struggle with Game of Thrones. Bought season 1 way back when it first came out and didn't get into it, but due to massive wraps I gave the entire another two goes and still doesn't do anything for me. Sure there are boobs and beheadings but I just find it boring. Not everything is for everyone I guess.

Angus Homeland is awesome! This season so far is full on.  Shows the darker side of CIA operations and how the line between right and wrong is so often blurred in the name of getting the job done.
Really ticked that the US have some sort of thanksgiving thing going on so its another week before the next episode.

True that. I do enjoy game of thrones though. it is much more that the sex, nudity and violence though. Interestingly, it also explores the blurring between right and wrong and the end means. George Martin has a great understanding of human nature. I am listening to the audio books the series is based on and am really enjoying them. The TV adaptation follows his novels very closely.

yes Tiga its the next one on the cards for me and dwaino the whole zombie theme is the only thing holding me back from not watching it any sooner. Too many people have described it exactly as you have Dwaino so it must be pretty good.

Homeland then Walking dead over summer if i get a chance.

Finally went and saw the latest instalment of the hunger games at the Classic in Elsternwick.
I think this franchise of movies has officially worn me out...Thought it was  somewhat ho hum.
Mediocre acting ,boring action scenes.Anyway I give it

I have been just getting the Hunger Games movies as they're released on bluray and I must admit I'm struggling to stay interested.

The wifey has been out doing Christmas stuff most of the weekend so I was catching up on some horror movies that she won't watch. Most were pretty crap but Dark Skies was decent. From producers of insidious and paranormal activity and doesn't stray from the formula buy I found it genuinely creepy at times and great to see an alien movie in a haunted house setting. It is about a family that start to experience weird things until they learn they have been marked for abduction.

Went to see the new Hobbit in gold class last night. I didn't really get into the first two as much as I did the LOTR films but this one was awesome. Lots of action from start to finish and felt more like a LOTR movie.

Watched Interstellar in gold class.

Was "ok".

Felt it went a bit long and I didn't really enjoy the last half hour or so.

It was utterly rediculous and James Franco was annoying, but I somehow didn't mind it.  Living in Asia for four years I've always been interested in North Korea and found some of it genuinely funny.
