Correct
So if we comment on players in the AFLW that are clearly not in “peak condition”, it’s fine for us to do so .. the ground rules are set

Don't have an issue with that terminology or not fit enough if that's the case

But i have a massive issue when people say they are fat and use person's body shape to try and justify it.

And that's one of the biggest differences, people look at an AFLW players body shape and if their shape isn't the same as say Mon Conti, Katie Brennan then they are immediately labelled as fat, unfit or not in peak condition

I mentioned numerous times last year that there was one bloke in particular running around who was clearly out of shape but not once was he labelled fat or his fitness questioned. He's actually still running around this season and he still looks like he's not in peak condition but I've never once heard his lack of conditioning called out (it's not a Tiger player BTW)

I'd prefer to just know their weights personally.

I've always enjoyed seeing male weights as part of the stats, checking to see how their bodies are filling out after drafting etc.

If the ladies ever want better pay I think they just need to suck it up and share their weights. If there's a fitness issue they'll need to be accountable for it. Men too.

Just to be clear It was the AFL that decided to not list weights, not the players. They didn't ask for it, the AFL made the call.

The AFL made this call after a number of AFLW players were subjected to some vile vitriolic abuse online. Weights were listed and pathetic keyboard warriors would suggest that the weights were false (lies) and the players were just fat and somehow by extension ugly etc.

The abuse was based in the majority of cases on a players body shape. If they didn't look a certain way they were fat. Fitness or lack of was rarely if ever mentioned. That's the issue here.

So rather than the players needing "to suck it up and share their weights" I'd suggest the haters rather than body shaming and abusing have the courage and make it about fitness

The players are more than willing to be accountable as they should be but make it about fitness not their shape or their weight

Thanks for clarifying that - I thought it was player driven, did not realise it was AFL driven. I stand corrected.

The online abuse is what needs to be addressed - by police if necessary. Not all athletes are ripped, and this goes for the men as well. There's been plenty of male AFL players who haven't looked that fit. Consider Dew in the 2008 GF, he was known for his lack of enthusiasm for cardio etc.

Otherwise I still prefer to know player weights, particularly for the mens comp as that's my main passion, and I find it interesting.

The AFL is the weakest PC correct competition there is

Only need to look at the stupid rounds they hold every other week ..

FWIW I didnt and don't agree with the decision to remove the weights but understand why they did it. But like so many things the AFL does that decision has actually made it worse IMHO. There is now more focus on it, more abuse online by the keyboard warriors

Quick three goals to the Hawks. Two due to our dumb errors (dropped mark in defence & then going over the mark gifting a 50). The third via a free 15m out.

6 - 21

Add another kick-in error in D50 gifting them another goal.

6 - 28

I know it's only a practice match but there's no system.
