He was marginally off the pace but gee you can really tell the difference between him (older and previously AFL listed) and our other junior players. He 100% has the attributes. And it sounds from Dimma like we are planning to keep him in 2022 (something about we debut'd him earlier than we wanted while he was still learning our structures etc).

Anyway I think he looks the goods and is immediately better than several other blokes we've seen this year.

Dimma's full comments on Parker:

“I thought he was really good,” Hardwick said.

“He’s quite dynamic, Matty.

“The things he does in and around the contest are really strong.

“He wins the ball, he uses it really well.

“We probably played him a little bit earlier than we thought because there’s some structure and system stuff he’s still learning.

“But he was pretty dynamic through the middle of the ground and then he went forward and provided a good conduit at various stages as well.

“So, it was a really promising debut, and we’re looking forward to him to continue with that next week versus Geelong, hopefully.”

What did we all think of Parker's game as a mid?

19 disposals (10k, 9h, 5c, 15u, 68.4% eff.)
2 marks
8 tackles (1 F50 tackle)
2 clearances (1 centre clearance)
5 inside 50s
1 intercept
421m gained
1 score involvement
87% time on ground.

Was good and will get better once he learns out game style.
Too many long blind kicks ATM.

Has a real crack but disposal is horrible i can now see why StKilda let him go.He and Castagna in the forward half is laughable.

At the end of the day we have him am happy for them to give him a 1 year deal and see if a few of the chinks can be ironed out.

Matthew Parker over his four senior appearances averages 14.2 disposals, 3.2 inside-50s, 4.8 score involvements, 5.8 tackles and 310.2 metres gained per match and has added some important energy to the Richmond side.

Parker produced another robust performance against North Melbourne at the MCG last Saturday, finishing with 14 disposals, three inside-50s, seven score involvements, four tackles and 295 metres gained.

In the first half of that contest, when the Tigers were really struggling, Parker was one of their few players who could have held his head high.

He played like a d grade suburban hack in the first quarter so how do they justify this statement?

His second half was great.
