"He is delusional."

Why @kanecornes was shocked to hear Adem Yze say the Tigers are not in rebuilding mode.

Exactly
We are in pre rebuilding mode

Yep cant be in rebuilding mode until you have the draft picks to do so, Taranto and Hopper trades have cost us two years of the rebuild

Nah he’s coasting and it’s not good for the team or his legacy IMO.
Fair enough, always respectful of everyone’s opinions 👌

I understand us struggling to score given our injuries, but I would like to see Ooze instill some defensive effort/intensity into the team. If we lose to the Dons by 10 goals but we tackle hard and make it a scrap, I would be ok.

The training drill stuff of the last two weeks is unacceptable.

‘Wouldn’t have a bruise on his body’: Dusty savaged for ‘soft footy’

Fox Footy with NCA Newswire
May 21st, 2024

An AFL analyst has savaged Dustin Martin’s form, declaring the Richmond champion is playing “soft footy” and “wouldn’t have had a bruise on his body on Saturday night”.

The Tigers have lost their last two games by a combined 210 points, capitulating against the Western Bulldogs and Brisbane, with Martin having nowhere near the impact the footy world is used to seeing.

While it’s worth noting he is very near the end of his career, Martin’s lack of impact - and the poor play of his veteran teammates - was criticised by former All-Australian Mick McGuane on Monday.

“Don’t gift them games if they don’t want to provide effort or consistency. And let’s go to the stars,” he said on RSN 927’s Racing Pulse.

“Dusty’s playing soft footy. Now we’ve all loved Dusty for what he’s brought to the game - there’s an argument in the last 20 years he’s in the best 3 players, if not the best player, that we’ve seen ... what he’s done on the main day, no-one’s ever done it before.

“But right now, the Dusty Martin of ‘17, how he won Norm Smiths ... compared to what we’re witnessing now, Dusty wouldn’t have had a bruise on his body on Saturday night.”

We can barely field a team, Dusty is doing what he has to do, our season is shot, what is there to do??
Pride?
So Dusty goes in hard and will get weeks for some stupid afl rule, it’s hard enough to watch AFL let alone play the stupid over ruled game.

Tigers could have 20 players unavailable as injury crisis worsens

By Sarah Black
afl.com.au
21 May 2024

RICHMOND is once again facing severely limited numbers as the Tigers' injury crisis intensifies, the unavailability list now a chance to hit an astonishing 20 players.

The Tigers have suffered yet another round of injuries, with Rhyan Mansell (concussion) definitely ruled out of Dreamtime at the 'G, while Sam Naismith tore his ACL in the VFL and is set to undergo his fourth knee reconstruction.

Richmond is now down to one fit ruck, captain Toby Nankervis.

Subbed out key forward Mykelti Lefau has been cleared of a broken jaw, but it remains to be seen if he will be declared fit to play.

Jacob Bauer – who has battled a hamstring injury this year – was also a late withdrawal from the VFL side, this time with a quad issue.

Teams must name a squad of 26 players (23 and three emergencies), and only Jacob Koschitzke, Samson Ryan and Kaleb Smith – who were emergencies for the Brisbane defeat – were left standing by the end of the VFL game.

If a fit three emergencies cannot be reached, there's a chance injured players will be named in order to make the minimum.

But Richmond will be hoping to regain Liam Baker (corked leg) and Dylan Grimes (back), who have both been sidelined for two weeks.

The Tigers will release their official injury list on Tuesday, but last week listed concussed pair Sam Banks and James Trezise as set to miss only one match, while Seth Campbell (knee bone bruising) and Jack Graham (hamstring) are outside chances to face the Bombers.

Richmond has used 39 players this year, comfortably the most of any side. The only Tigers yet to take to the field are long-term injured pair Liam Fawcett and Mate Colina (back), Bauer (who has been sidelined most of this season), second-year Kaleb Smith and category B rookie Oliver Hayes-Brown, who is currently playing in the VAFA, the level below the VFL.

Richmond Rant / Re: Richmond vs Brisbane @ the Gabba --- Round 10, 2024
« Last post by one-eyed on Today at 07:21:32 AM »

What they got right

Youngsters got valuable minutes

Richmond had 11 players with less than 40 games of experience.

It certainly was a proper footballing lesson that they received, which hopefully they’ll take plenty away from.

Kane McAuliffe played well in his third game, picking up 20 disposals and laying five tackles

The Tigers also managed to win clearances and centre clearances. But that was about the only stat line they won, and clearly had no bearing on the outcome.

There wasn’t much else to write home about.

What they got wrong

Questionable effort and intent

It’s hard to pinpoint one exact area where the Tigers are being brushed aside.

One thing that has been alarming is the lack of pressure around the ball.

The Lions, despite losing clearances, just moved the ball so easily around the Gabba - and it made Adem Yze’s side look silly at times.

Richmond’s drop-off in effort and intent over the last two weeks has been surprising, seeing as it was keeping them competitive in most games prior.

Somehow more injuries

The amount of injuries Richmond has copped in 2024 is astounding.

They entered the Lions fixture with 15 players on the injury list. Mykelti Lefau hurt his jaw (thankfully it is not broken) and Rhyan Mansell was concussed during the game which did not help the cause.

Unfortunately, ruckman Sam Naismith went down with another ACL injury in the VFL on Sunday, further compounding the club’s personnel issues.

It’s been a season of hell on the injury front at Punt Road.

Can’t score, can’t defend

The Tigers’ lack of scoring ability has been one area that has plagued them in 2024.

They have scored just 622 points in 10 games at an average of 62.2 which is the lowest in the league.

They have failed to kick 50 points in each of the last four games.

Richmond’s defence is also a glaring issue. They’ve conceded 1044 points at an average of 104.4 points per game. Only North Melbourne has conceded more points.

It’s time for Adem Yze to get tough with the playing group to avoid this season being even more of a disaster than it already is.
