WP as great as MonCon is and as much as she’s a star both in our side and the AFLW in general, she would not be able to play in a men’s side be it at AFL, state, local or U18 level.

To suggest so is a disservice to both AFLW and MonCon, as like you’ve mentioned, there is no point in comparing leagues/teams/players of different genders, 1 of which has been running a professional comp for 120+ years vs 1 which has been running for 8.

It wouldn't matter if the AFLW had been running for 200 years - it might be better than it is now but it would still be a woefully inferior competition.....and Mon Conti would barely cut it in the EDFL second division.....it'd be like that chick that tried for the Hammerheads in that stupid reality show from years ago... :shh

Cmon dio, saying ‘it might be better’ if it had been running for 200 years is being purposely dismissive and you know it.

Ofcourse it would still be inferior to AFL, just like cricket, tennis, soccer and any sport is and that’s just a product of the men being quicker, stronger, fitter, etc. etc.

Point WP is trying to make (other than when talking about Conti), is that there really isn’t a need to always be bringing up how it’s not as good as the AFL. They’re not the same competition and never will be, so why keep bringing it up.

To each their own, but I’ve never understood why people will jump on an AFLW related thread just to crap on it. Like if it’s not for you, just don’t watch it.

You can walk down to the local park & see better games than this over-hyped tripe.... :shh

Million percent

Was having a beer with an assistant coach of the Bulldogs, back when they were a good side

He made the comment that the best players in that side wouldn’t get a senior game at St Albans

Interesting Damo, 2 of those players are now at Richmond and one of them is the best captain in the comp and the other player is the best player in the comp. Reckon Mon Conti would get a game at St Albans

She wouldn’t have as an 18yo, so that is irrelevant
So stand by the comment 100% and trust the person who was a senior assistant at the Bulldogs

My error was saying St Albans .. the club was Deer Park

You can now guess the coach - who also played 44 games of AFL football

So yeah , his knowledge of the game will do me

Have no idea who the coach is but am I correct in assuming he was an assistant in the men's program?

No.

Unfortunately I just find most female professional sports to be underwhelming.

I think the reason for this is that I appreciate male sport when I see feats of athleticism, strength and skill that are truly beyond me. Women can be great at sport but for example I don't feel impressed seeing 30-40m kicks for goal, because I could probably have a go myself. At the AFL level you'll see blokes kick goals from 50-60+ and you know that's beyond the average man. That's just an example.

Despite that there are sports that I enjoy watching women play as much or more than men - netball, tennis, random things like table tennis, badminton, volleyball etc.

I just think for the sports that I truly like as sport codes I always find the men more impressive.

There are several examples of professional women playing average men and being demolished if you have a quick google. Serena Williams played the #200 ranked bloke once and got pantsed. There's also footage of a professional lady's soccer team playing a group of men in their 50-60's and getting pumped etc.

So yeah, that's it for me, as a spectator who enjoys the spectacle of the game!

Each to their own Andyy but what about womens cricket? you find that underwhelming too? Absolutely love watching the Aussie girls on the cricket filed. Play the game the right way and are super talented.

Finally I don't want to come across as potting posters as it's not my intent but I truly feel for any daughters of some our posters who love footy, want to play it and aspire to be AFLW players, what sort of message, support does it send denigrating and finding fault with it at every opportunity :huh3 :huh3 :help

Still find it underwhelming unfortunately. To be clear, I don't find every aspect boring - can appreciate good talent, good athleticism, good moments etc - just saying that largely speaking, as a spectacle, I find mens sport more entertaining in most codes.

Also it's very different when you have a vested interest. My son played U9's footy last year. They don't even score the game at all and the standard was largely appalling haha. But it's different when you have a child or friend or family out there.
