Barrett made all that up

Really?

You reckon?

 ;D
I thought Barrett did well to come up with the rumour of Betts to either Kangas or Adelaide that I read on BF 3 months ago.  :lol

Was even funnier that Brayshaw was taking notes cod the poco prim can't afford a rape recorder to go back over the footage.

Thought the funniest thing was when Barrett said Dusty "needs to get his head around..."

I think that should've been Ralph Carr needs to get his head around what Dusty's worth   ;D

But as I said funny stuff on so many levels  ;D

I like what Stevie J said, there would have been no one at Geelong on that money, I hope Dusty or his management understand that, I am sure he does!!

So just to make sure I am not misunderstanding what you are posting.

You are saying that your "mail" is that it's not about the money at all but it's all about the length of deal?

If this is what you are saying, I have to say as respectively as possible, that is incorrect.

Have said before Ralph Carr is his manager and with him it is first & foremost about the $$$.

I also have just broken my own embargo on this topic - sorry

Think it's best I go back to no more direct comments from me before I cop any whacks  ;D :rollin

I think Stevie J hasn't got a clue  ;D No one on Geelong is on that sort of money? No one, pretty sure when Selwood signed his last contract it was reported it was over $650+ a season so that sort of shoots down Stevie J  ;D

pretty sure he said in the early premiership days(late 2000's) not at the present moment. He said himself Selwood and taylor are on that now.

How do you know it's Ralph Carr. Please provide a source or it's an unsubstantiated rumour

How is he a more important player to us then say Alex Rance who is on a lot less than him already? I love him but we don't need players thinking they are above the team and may do us more harm than good in terms of salary cap.

If he doesn't want to come down to 500k I  think we should trade him to GWS for Adams and someone else like Haynes or Treloar (big ask). Possibly throw their second round pick in the mix if not for a second payer - again just lateral thinking.

Tigers keen to sign Dusty deal

By Jennifer Phelan
afl.com.au
2:00pm AEST Saturday, August 10, 2013

RICHMOND has conceded Dustin Martin's contract negotiations are taking longer than the club would like but remains confident Martin will stay a Tiger.

The Tigers have offered the 22-year-old what they believe is a fair contract for him to stay at the club beyond this season.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said he didn't believe there were any issues when it came to negotiations and believed Martin would follow spearhead Jack Riewoldt and recommit.

"It's probably taken a little longer than we would have liked but we're pretty confident there's some details [we can] work through," Gale told 3AW on Saturday.

"I think Dustin doesn't want to go anywhere, wants to be at our club, he's an important part of our future, we love Dusty, he's a kid who's really matured and evolved the past couple of years.

"We're pretty confident that will be done in due course."

Richmond football manager Dan Richardson said there had to be a balance between paying players what they're worth and ensuring there was enough to go around and contribute towards keeping a successful group together.

The Tigers are poised to play finals this season for the first time since 2001.

He said while he wasn't sure when the Martin deal would be finalised, he was confident it would be.

“We’re still working through it, we're really confident Dustin is happy and he'll stay at Richmond," Richardson told AFL LIVE on Saturday.

"Sometimes these things just take a bit of time for both parties, but I think common sense will prevail.

"I think Dustin should stay at Richmond, we certainly hope that he will and look, we've offered him what we think is a very fair contract and we hope that gets a result soon, but I can't give you a timeline on it."

Martin will play his 82nd AFL game on Saturday against the Brisbane Lions after making his debut in round one of 2010.

In the past four weeks, he's averaged 29 disposals a game.

Martin has been said to have been influenced by off-field distractions in his short career but is believed to have settled somewhat this season under the guidance of development coach Mark Williams.

Daniel Jackson and Dylan Grimes are the latest Tigers to recommit with Riewoldt, Trent Cotchin, Alex Rance, Brandon Ellis, Nick Vlastuin, Chris Newman and Jake King others to sign on this year.

Reece Conca remains out of contract.
